Due to a fecking volcano eruption in Iceland (not the frozen food place unfortunately) all flights entering British Airspace have been Cancelled for the forseable future. There will be several blues coming from across Europe who may not get there now due to this, so here is what i suggest. We flew a blue from Australia to Manchester to watch his beloved city play in the derby, and i propose something similar aswell. Currently we have a blue in Stockholm and 1 in Helsinki who are stuck and are now on the verge of not making it for the derby. I have done some quick calculations and to go from Manchester to Helsinki and back is a 1974 mile round trip. In my car that would cost £215 in diesel. Including the ferries and tolls this figure would rise to about $450. Would anyone care to chip in and for me to personally go and drive to pick them up???

kinnel thats a hell of a proposal, and fair play.
is this even possible mate, if you dont plan to set off in the next few hours ?
 
I know of 2 blues also stuck in Stockholm who would like a lift as well!
Also could you detour to Brussels and pick me up? :-)
 
just checked the ferry times, dover to dunkerque tomorrow at 6am, then the return ferry is dunkerque to dover at 2am on saturday morning, in manchester for 7, 4 hrs kip then the big game!!!

Ferry is £80 return, not bad really

*Manchester 00.01am ---> Dover
*Dover 0600 ferry to dunkerque, takes 2 hours so 8am
*11 Hour drive to Copenhagen is 7pm. Pick up blues and turn around,
*11 hour drive back to dunkerque which takes us to 6am
*2 hour boat trip back is 8am, then 4 hrs and 45 mins to get back to manchester, doable or not???
 
Yeh you could do it but you would be asleep before the end of the first half and no amount of noise will be waking you up, lol. Nice gesture mate but I think the planes will be ok by Saturday or even tomorrow night so peole will get here I'm sure. Think the latest is they can land/take off from 6pm tomorrow evening?

Nobody has really said they would chip in so it is a no go anyway really. Really hope they get over in time, what about trains, surely they must be able to get over that way?

Sometimes it isn't meant to be, and this seems like one of them.

Unless the ash clears in time it isn't realistic.
