Bring on anyone

I think we have to remember that were a lot further ahead in preparation and that this was only a friendly... but having said that we did look awesome.

...and that they were missing some genuinely top class players - Lucio, Zanetti, Maicon, Cambiasso, Milito etc etc

But yeah, still a good performance.

let's not forget the rags beat Barcelona :D

Would I be getting carried away thinking that we could batter pretty much any team in Europe. We just beat Inter at a canter.

Etoo was made to look poor, Shneider (sp) was outclassed by Silva and Milner.

Can't wait for next week.

dear god, we played well but it was a friendly, anyone would think we we`re giddy rags.

just a bit of perspective.

No, bollocks to perspective... I'm getting myself properly giddy!!!

oh go on then i`ll join you, i`ll have a pint of guinness

Play well in a friendly and it's "only a friendly"..
play badly in a friendly and it's "only a friendly"..

It's easy to get giddy about that performance.
Only a pre-season friendly, but still...
And also very encouraging that we won so easily today despite de Jong and Yaya having pretty quiet games by their standards.

Friendly or not you could see that the players look focused and that they've benefitted from being settled at the club with none of the newbies on the pitch.

Very promising.

I know we had players missing too. I was just saying that arguably 9/11 of our team was our first choice. There was half of Inter's first eleven, at best, out there...little perspective - that's all :)

I was still very impressed.

I agree. However, I think that we were so dominant in that game that had we both fielded fulls strength teams, we probably would've won.

I also think that asserting we could beat anyone in europe is kinda bold (to the original poster). Anyone but R. Madrid and Barca is who we would compete heavily with.

Is it mental that i'm hoping for one of these two in our CL group?

Not at all. Personally (and surprisngly), I think we'd have our best chance against Barca. Real Madrid play a style that would be far less exploitable with our team. Barca have been exposed once or twice with direct play. With a squad like ours, I'm sure that we would show the faults in Barcelona's approach. However, whether we'd win is unlikely due to the cohesion, less experience and currently, less quality across the board (although expectedly, we're going to improve on that already accomplished aspect). The more adaptable R. Madrid would be more scary, though.

I think this will be a key factor in us being more consistent this season

I said the exact words: "Bring on Anyone"

I had downed at least 7 Peroni's
I was talking to my Dad
I meant it
But look at my first reason

7 Peroni's eh? So you're saying that you were still sober (unless you're a pussy!)
