Anyone else think we should really start pushing youth players through to the first team? Would be good if we saw Suarez, Razak etc. on the bench this season and getting the odd 10-20 mins game time.

If we are building a squad for the future it would be good to have a core of players that will be around for the long haul.

We had opportunities to blood some in last season when our squad was starved for depth after the halfway point of the season but even then Mancini was hesitant. I get the feeling Mancini is under so much pressure that he doesn't trust the youth we have and wonder if Boyata's mistake against Arsenal is what has caused that.

Its a big step up from EDS to first team but there are a few who already probably have the pedigree to make some sort of impression, especially the young midfielders like Razak, Roman, and now Suarez, as Yaya/NDJ/Barry/Milner don't seem to offer enough variety, but with Nasri and maybe another on the way that may be fixed without using the kids.

I wouldn't bring up Rekik yet, 16 is a bit young although it'd be a big slap in the rag media's face if we gave a 16-year-old his first team debut this season. :D

Our biggest failing at the moment is how far our young players are from getting a chance. When you have a bloated squad like ours and a manager who still wants even more players it's impossible to get a chance.
I'd give Rekik a chance now, he looks like the real deal!

All through the season:
Suarez, Guidetti, Razak

Mid-Season onwards:
Roman, Assulin

Latter Stages:
Bunn, Rekik, Scapuzzi, Veseli

We bring loads of youth players through... to League 1... Championship at best. Razak isn't hood enough. Suarez has only just come here. Give him time. As for anyone else, we dot
produce enough quality!

Could we use the Carling Cup to bring in some of the youth players this season like Arsenal have done in the past years. With Champions League football and the league I think that will be the only games these players will get a look in for the early part of the season.

I'm sure Suarez will get a few games this season. Not so sure about the others though.

If they are good enough they will get their chances. We trust the manager to recognise the talent don't we? ( aside from his son of course)

That Danny Wellbeck was at school not so long , in Hulme ......... how the fuck did he slip by?

Well thats the problem isn't it, we don't give them a chance... Reece Wabara vented his frustration last year because he worked his ass off to just get on the bench and he never even got 5 mins.
