What are everyone's first impressions? I don't think all of the new gimmicks worked, but I actually thought it was a refreshing change and better than Sky's tired format.

Watching the Sky coverage of The Shite last night, and the Spurs game today looks really old fashioned in comparison.

I thought that Jake Humphrey was superb, probably the best football anchor on TV other than Gary Lineker, miles better than the bland shite Sky serve up.

Thought McManaman was very good, and Owen Hargreaves was really insightful and balanced. Ian Darke is always brilliant, but Michael Owen is too dull to co commentate.

The best feature for me though was the camera angle of the game. It was basically one continuous shot, the same as sitting on the half way line, with the occasional shot of the manager / referee in the bottom left hand corner.

Watching Sky now doing close ups of the ball / managers/ players faces every 5 seconds is infuriating as you can't see what's going on in the game.

i liked the refs view from Mark Halsey during the game as well. overall i thought it was good

A refreshing change indeed from the snides on SSNakesTV Saturday afternoon (Thompson, Charlie, Merson et al) and the Biased Broadcasting Corp!

Living up to it's company name.

Very British style sports coverage contrasted against the American style of Sky.

Doesn't patronise the viewer either. With trained journalistic background presenters too makes it look professional.

Michael Owen's has a fuckin' droney monotonic voice - get rid!

Owen doesn't provide a single iota of insight. At one point in the Liverpool game, in the same sentence, he said something like.....'Crouch....give him the ammunition he will score.......as honest as the day is long'........(ignoring the basketball goal), within about 30 seconds he'd dived in the box and the commentator had revealed he hadn't scored since Christmas. Owen said nothing but I suspect the irony was beyond him. To be honest I thought Halsey was pointless as he seemed unwilling to criticise the referee, indeed praised him for turning a 'blind eye' to a penalty. However, I think the concept could work.

Overall, though I'm impressed!

why are all the score/time and logos at the bottom of the screen?

It was alright i did not like the little box with the players faces almost hoping to see a reaction and the scores at the bottom was a little strange for me and jake humphreys is awful he should just stick to the F1.
