Cancelled last month and the cheeky sods have just taken another month's money
I had a similar problem with my ex-energy supplier. When I rang them about it, they said that I should get onto my bank, and tell them the circumstances, and that I was in dispute with the supplier. Under the terms of the Direct Debit Indemnity Guarantee, the money should be refunded until the dispute was settled, one way or the other. When I spoke to the bank, the money was credited to my bank immediately! The Direct Debit was also cancelled by the bank.You should have cancelled your direct debit.
(Instead of me owing them almost £300, I received a refund of £330, so we're not talking of pennies.)
