I've just got a new netbook as I'm working away from home and this site seemed to be fine for a couple of days but now keeps logging me out every few minutes. I tick the "keep me logged in" box when I log in but within a few clicks I've been logged out and have to log back in again.

The netbook is running XP and I'm currently using IE6 (although I'm going to download IE7 & Google Chrome when I get home) and the security software is McAfee (which is free for 90 days then I'm going to ditch for something else probably). Not having this problem on other forums, just this one and it's very frustrating (particularly as I can't get access via my work pc).

Anyone got any ideas?

Hi mate, that might have something to do with a setting I changed on the server yesterday. Have switched it back now, let me know if you still experience any problems. Either way though, get rid of IE6!

Re: Bluemoon keeps logging me out randomly

An hour.

Is this the problem? I can only say to people that this isn't a problem that I can replicate, and session seem to be working correctly on the server. If people can post their internet browser version, operating system, and situation (does it only happen in one browser? Only on your computer? Have you done a full spyware check?) then maybe we can get to the bottom of it. Let me know, this is one of the problems that a few people have, and I really want to nail it.

Right well I certain never leave it for an hour without posting so its not that.
I use Opera which admittly doesnt get on with quite a few websites generally ones with flash on them

Usually I would make fun of you somehow, but my mate has had the same problem, I don't know how it happened or how he fixed it but...I really hope you work it out mate...

Hmm..while I have a think about this, fancy being the first to test drive the new bug reporting system on the sticky?
By the way, does this happen in other browsers?

Date/Time of Occurrence: Since Friday 17/7/09
Internet Browser: ie8 8.0.6001.18783
Operating System: vista ultimate x64
Type of Error: Logged out at random intervals, and unread posts reverting to earlier time
Problem:
every so often, find that I'm logged out of bluemoon and have to log back in.
once this has occurred, the site has lost where I am up to for the last post read in a thread

Have you tried a different browser? YES
Have you tried logging out then in? YES
Have you tried clearing your cookies/cache? YES
Have you tried rebooting your machine? YES

ps, have tacked this on the end of another thread, as I can't create a new one, would it be appropriate to lift the sub 50 posts restriction in the technical forum?
