Bundesliga thread 2020/21

Absolute tinpot league. It’s like Brazil playing the Faroe Islands every week.

We did hit the rags with 6 not too long ago, hit chelsea with 6 two seasons ago, hit the dippers with 5 and then there's Spurs whom we love to manhandle on a regular bases. Would you say the pl is a tinpot league based on these results?

Leroy's first goal - orchestrated by his fellow players. Kimmich makes the pass - but it is actually Müller that shouts "Leroy, Leroy, auf auf geht's - Das machst du spitze!" (Leroy, Leroy, go, go - you do that great!)

It seems he has not lost speed...

Tough to watch - thats him at his best, and we didn't get to see it last season. You look very strong again this season.

Would prefer to avoid drawing you in the Champions League.

Dortmund’s front three on Saturday was Reyna, Haaland and Sancho plus Bellingham in midfield. Probably going to get 300-400 million for them lot in two or three seasons.

Outside of the top three are there any other interesting sides?

Problem is the schedule - and the reliance on certain players.

With Thiago gone our midfield needs Kimmich to stay absolute healthy. You can argue that one of Thiago or Kimmich with Goretzka (or a healthy Tolisso) is as good as both together especially when there is Alaba and Boateng who are good in build up when Kimmich gets pressed too much - but with the shortened season, extra Supercup matches and maybe a FIFA Club World Cup, the national team etc. and without winter break and real preparation a tough season lays ahead and we will especially miss Thiago.

Lewy and Müller are another two for which we do not have decent replacements - maybe it works for one match when we e.g. have all 3 wingers available - but against decent opponents we need them really both to stay healthy and in form. Müller was incredible last season - it is not just the assists but he commands the offensive moves with all the position changes they make and the pressing. And even has a look on the defensive side when one of the full backs or Kimmich or Goretzka go forward.

We still need players - a good right back is absolutely necessary - right now we have no replacement for Pavard and now we cannot shift Kimmich there anymore as we did in the CL tournament. Another winger - even with that there will still be minutes to give young ones lika Musiala a run. But even if we get this two additions it will still be hard. The next two weeks will be interesting.

Today's Paulaner shooting with much about Leroy: (watch with Englisch subtitles!)

This season is definitely survival of the fittest.

In terms of schedules, German and French teams are the best placed to succeed this season, even if it is busier than usual. I know there is not much of a winter break in Germany this season, but there are no free mid weeks whatsoever in England, and definitely no breaks. Spain and Italy are also massively impacted.

I think you're the best team in Europe at the minute and even if there is a slight drop off in performances due to fatigue or rotation, you will have enough to beat the second best team in Germany. Put Bayern Munich in any league in the world and I think you would win it though.

Aside from International breaks, the first "free midweek" English sides in Europe have is 19th/20th January. After that, if you're in the Europa, the next free midweek is April 19th/20th. Unbelievably, I believe there will be 3 games fit in during International breaks now!

This is before any postponements for Coronavirus, or bad weather etc.

The sheer volume of games would be great if we were allowed in the stadiums!

You could play your second team for half the games though. You just beat schalke 8-0.

No one else is going to win the Bundesliga and the Champions League other than Bayern
