I'd go along with that.

I've always seen 1860 as the Manchester City of Germany, but without the happy ending. In fact my first ever Bundesliga game was the day they sent Nurnberg down in 2003 (the same day that Anelka scored a last minute winner for City at Anfield).

That game was in Nurnberg, but I've got it in my head that 1860 used to have their own ground, certainly in the 70s and 80s.
Did they ever play in the Olympic Stadium?

Yes, the Grünwalder, also called 60er-Stadion. The U23 of Bayern and 1860 are playing there these days. And 1860 would return there in League 3. 1860 fans love it.

The minute 1860 sold their share in the Allianz was the minute they should have left it.

The Grünwalder is a great stadium but wouldn't have been able to fit the 68,500 that were at the Allianz last week.

Potentially a great club but they're just existing in Bayerns shadow at the minute. They need to move from the Allianz and create their own identity.
 
Getting a bit ahead of myself as the playoffs still need to be decided, but when are next seasons fixtures announced?

Well, what can I add other than feeling sorry for Paderborn and especially Freiburg. I can live without Paderborn in the long run, but I like Freiburg and I am really gutted that they go down again.

Looks like Hamburg can escape relegation once more and it really pisses me off.

At least the Footballgod himself won the leagues top goalscorer trophy.

Really happy for Alex as he is with us for 11 years now, went down to the 2nd division twice and now scored 19 goals in one season joining Frankfurt legends Tony Yeboah and Jörn Andersen as winners of this trophy.
His teammates actually had a great banner up when it was anounced that he won the trophy (was injured the last couple of matches): "What if god was one of us #AM14".

Looking forward to the season final of the 2nd division today. Hope FSV Frankfurt somehow to manage avoiding relegation....:(

I would happily trade the WC win in 2014 for Frankfurt winning the damn cup...I dont even dare to dream about winning the title.

Just thinking about that season final in the 91/92 season makes me want to cry.

Dear god Aidan, you really need to slow it down a bit!

Germany is not going anywhere (I hope at least), so there is still plenty of time to come over for Football. ;)

Going to be tasty if Darmstadt and/or Karlsruhe and Kaiserslautern go up...all 3 are pretty close to Frankfurt! *hint hint*

Fixtures will be anounced over the summer, so far we only know that the new season starts on August 14th.

Does anybody know the date of the 1860 play off games, or what kind of attendance they will expect for the home leg?

If the flights are okay I'm thinking of doing a very English thing and just turning up without a ticket.
 
next friday in Kiel and following tuesday in Munich. It should be about 8.5 hours by car from ground to ground. Not much of a derby that match

So presumably Hamburg is the best airport for Kiel? I can see flights for about £130 return

Sorry to keep pestering but you seem to be the man with the answers. When do Hamburg play their home play off?
I can see a plan coming into action.

i see your plan, but the Holstein Stadium has a maximum 15,000 capacity.
