my missus woke me up in the night saying she could hear some one breaking in, i ran downstairs and this guy was halfway in my living room window.
I picked up my rounders bat and cracked him round the face...

Play much do you? ;-)

Shame you didn't play axe throwing.
i always have a bat of some sort at the ready as long as it does the job eh.
my grandad (r.i.p) always used tto have a rounders bat at the side of his bed , now i have it at the side of my bed

Am I the only one who doesn't give a shite about the dead burglar?

If you don't get masked up and break into someones house, the person who lives there will not be forced into an action that results in your death.

Am I wrong?

This seems to be a bit more than attempted burglary. "Wrong house"? Four of them? Something doesn't add up.

2 months ago, 4 masked-up lads were spotted and reported to the police breaking into my brothers house. They were after the keys to his new VW Golf.

It's not uncommon, this striking fear by balaclava... plus it reduces the CCTV factor.

These dickheads were probably after the XBox.

It sounds daft but imo if the rules changed where you could defend yourself/family/property in the event of someone robbing you which could put yourself and familys life in danger and be able to defend yourself without caution, burglary crime would decrease to a certain extent.

Shami Chakrabarti, director of the civil rights group Liberty, said: “This is a problem not of law but the public understanding. People facing intruders can use reasonable force to defend themselves.
But saying ‘burglars leave their rights at the threshold’ could be a recipe for vigilante execution and mistaken killings. As far as I'm concerned if your in my home uninvited ballyed up or otherwise then yeah you do do leave your rights at the threshold

Bollocks As far as I'm concerned if your in my home uninvited ballyed up or otherwise then yeah you do do leave your rights at the threshold, in short you have no fucking right/s whatsoever so if you finish up arrested, badly injured or dead then your problem

One of the other burglars has handed himself in. This should shed a bit more light on the whole thing.

Salford burglar death: Man held over break-in

A man handed himself in at a police station earlier

Man held after stabbing released
Stab death burglar 'was on bail'
Murder arrests over burglar death
A man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary following an attempted break-in in Salford, in which a burglar was stabbed to death.

John Bennell, 27, of Hyde, was knifed in the chest, at a house in Ethel Avenue, Pendlebury, last Wednesday.

A 23-year-old man, also from Hyde, handed himself in at Ashton-under-Lyne police station at about 1900 BST, Greater Manchester Police said.

He is due to be questioned shortly, a spokesman added.

Householder Peter Flanagan, 59, was arrested on suspicion of Mr Bennell's murder. He has been bailed until 25 July.

Mr Flanagan's 27-year-old son Neil and his son's 21-year-old girlfriend were also arrested but later released without charge.

Victim 'on bail'
Greater Manchester Police were alerted to a break-in at the terraced house just before midnight on Wednesday.

They then received reports of a man with stab wounds being carried along a street, by a gang of men, nearby.

Four masked men had attempted to get into the house before Mr Bennell - who was on police bail over another burglary - was stabbed.

It is believed he was carried away from the scene by the other intruders, before being dumped in nearby Hospital Road.

He was found by police and taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

A 30-year-old man from Tameside, who was questioned on suspicion of burglary, was released without charge on Saturday.

A police spokesman said inquiries were ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact the force or Crimestoppers anonymously.

Re: Burglar stabbed to death, Manchester

Imo if you break into somones property and get stabbed what the fuck they expect. This! "please come in rob me of my goods which i worked to get,and leave me as i feel less than a whole man thinking it could happen again"

No because if they knew it was possible the next house they did they might not get out without getting hurt. Then they might not do it and stick to robbing shops. At least the insurance is the only thing that gets hurt.

Re: Burglar stabbed to death, Manchester

I wonder what kind of 'masks' they wore.
Was it the cartoon-head style, superglued to the head comedy type, the traditional balaclava knitted by their gran or one of them niqab/hajib/burqa type affairs?

That pisses me off. Victim?! It should say 'thieving little **** on bail', or 'deceased on bail' to be more PC. He wasn't a fucking victim, that's for sure.
