Burnley (H) Post Match Thread

Not a great game to watch but the win is all that matters under difficult circumstances

Good test to come through unscathed. Stones was at top of his game once again but the best part is now we have a fukin 5 point lead :) Fantastic Day

Given the heavy defending i thought they would start to crack from minute 60/70th on as often happens when the bus gets tired. And then those expectations materialized with a 3-0 against a heavily defending team. And still most of us thought a number of key players were (logicly) somewhat tired and yet we take a 3-0 win from a team defending like that in a pretty organised fashion, bar perhaps that one moment where Ederson had to do that double safe. So yeah we never came out of second gear and then a somewhat lesser performance of our team still gets us a 3-0. And a 5 point lead now, things are just going pretty flawless at the moment.

I know. Does my head in. Turned on SSN at HT and Stelling bleating on about "a harsh decision". He trapped Silva's foot under his knee.
It's a penalty all day.

It was only harsh in that Pope avoided him for most of the tackle, but then caught him at the very end of it. And Silva did make the most of it.

But it's still a pen.

FWIW half time commentators in the States didn't agree with in-match announcers -- they thought it absolutely the right call.

Stones is a wonderful player. Top performance. thought Walker was a bit off today but easy yo be over picky i guess

'Manchester City have allowed 14 shots on target in nine league games. Ludicrously solid.' Daniel Storey on twitter.

Not bad for a supposedly shonky defence.

Today was a perfect example of why we need alexis, also Bernardo not at prem pace yet, great day but tired minds and bodies.
Alexis komps mendy and would of been a lot more comfortable and a few more legs rested.

We were off the pace with our passing; scored 3 and missed another 3 sitters; our keeper had fuck all to do; and Delph was superb - my MOTM.

Never felt more like singing the blues...

Agreed -- but we are spoiled after some of the shellackings we've administered. But I'll take an "iffy" pen, a headed corner (remember when we couldn't score from a set piece to save our hides last year??) and a linked moment of utter brilliance from Kun, KDB and Sane. Top notch flick, world class pass, quality finish.

And we should give some credit to Pope -- he was outstanding for them, pen aside.

We don’t dig out 1 nils we dig out 3-0 nils, so this week the media mantra has been can our boys do it when it’s blowing sideways and pissing it down?

The answer it seems is yes

Stones is in imperious form, Kev one pass boom goal, Bernie tried very hard and was ignored a little but was looking fore like it in the end

Sergio = Legend
