Burnley v City - pre-match

That is a valid point. Also I thought the idea of Friday night football was to give some extra time for Euro sides to prepare.
It's just for extra revenue tbh. However if we're playing Bayern/Dortmund/PSG in the knockout stages we should be making noises about Friday kickoffs prior to the games as the French and German teams will almost certainly get them.

We definitely won't be playing Bayern in the next round, thank goodness.

Burnley are no pushover.

Their forwards will be chasing down Bravo at every given opportunity, hoping he'll gift a chance; I won't be surprised if he makes another howler. As long as at the end of the season he saves us more points than he costs us I'll be happy.

I can see Pep going 3-5-1-1, but you never know. As long as we play the fast paced, decisive football we are capable of then we should be home and dry by HT. We will just need to make good use of the bench, as 3 games in 7 days is a lot to ask.

To be fair he arguably hasn't cost us any points at all so far this season.

Rather play them than Atletico over two legs, Bayern look sloppy this season. But regardless if we hit our (likely) target and make a semi-final we'll probably play French or German opposition along the way.

Think Sane and/or Nolito might as well get some time because they'll at least be fresh.

BTW it would be the most typical EPL thing if Burnley roll over to WBA on Monday and then play like Barcelona against us.

Like to see us go with 2 upfront occasionally this should be the perfect game for it. 352 -

Bravo
Nico
Stones
Kolarov
Fernandinho
Gundo
Kdb
Sterling
Nolito
Aguero
Nacho

PEP: Kompany will be four to six weeks out. Yaya can play in many positions but we have other options to play there at centre-back. #mcfc#

PEP: Sergio is not injured but he has a problem in his foot. Today he has traIning at 4pm and we will see his condition. Zabaleta as well.

PEP: I am so happy about all my players. The full-backs normally play out and now they try to play inside. That is difficult. I’m satisfied.

PEP: We can't forget (Burnley) beat Liverpool, lost in 93rd min against Arsenal and drew at Old Trafford. What they do, they do really well.

Burnley have no new injury concerns ahead of the visit of Manchester City.

Ashley Barnes is pushing for a first league start of the season, having impressed in substitute appearances on his return from a serious knee injury.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out for up to six weeks with the knee injury he suffered against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Top scorer Sergio Aguero will have a late fitness test on a foot problem, while Pablo Zabaleta is also a doubt.

I think we're stuck with 3 at the back for the next while regardless so we may as well give it a try. Better to have 6 players for 3 positions than 2+Kolarov for 2.

When was the last time we pressed like we did against Barcelona? Is it under instruction to avoid fatigue afrer a busy international and domestic schedule? is it horses for courses?

Guardiola: "I believe we defend not good because we do not attack good. When our build-up is better, we are going to defend much better."
Pep Guardiola: "Normally when we have problems with our defenders it is because our build-up is not properly good."

its pretty sad with the players we have and the manager we have that we are scared of not getting a result against burnley?? no disrespect to them but fucking hell we should be able to steam these?

How many managers/ players have you heard say that they'll "steam" the opposing team in a prematch presser?
