Burton Albion (a) Post Match Thread

Nobody injured on a near frozen pitch and I don't think anyone exerted themselves much above what they would in a normal training session . The best result possible this evening really Plus another really assured performance from a goalkeeper who only just turned 20 and is being asked to play the Pep way. Feeling pretty confident with him as back up and he deserves to start in the final. I think he will too.

Subbing on Jesus instead of Bolton when we’re leading with 10 goals on aggregate is fucking disgraceful. Gutted for Bolton and Richards

Really odd decision to take them both out of the Checkatrade game if they weren’t going to get on the pitch tonight.

Job done and that’s all that matters.

Great to see some of the Academy lads start the game and very important that Kevin, Phil, Sergio, Riyad and Benjamin all got game time.

Sergio MotM.

Dull game.

Great to see some younger players given a go and on the whole they did well.
It’s very telling that the goal was down to the experience of Kev, Mahrez and Serge - literally men against boys. Danilo also seemed physically a cut above the rest with some real aggression.

Of the young lads the two centre backs did ok; I thought Poveda looked lost at times but pleased Pep kept him on as the experience will be vital. Nmecha looked promising and Phil seemed to improve as the game went on - he really does have such great balance and composure on the ball.

Should of been called off at half time, you could see the city players weren’t happy with the pitch, impressed with Garcia and sandler though.
