It's worth it. I was in one of these shops and told them, what kind of bed I'd like to have (XL and only one mattress, no sharp corners, etc...)

A good bed is the most important piece of furniture in the home - don't skimp on it. Look for pocket springing or similar quality - possibly memory foam?

At the moment you should be able to pick up a good bed at a fair price.

Get a cheap bed from IKEA, but don't skimp on the mattress! In the Radisson in Galway we had memory foam mattresses...which were great, but we were too pissed each night to enjoy them really!

Get to Ikea. Those Malm beds with the Sultan Favang mattresses are awesome. You've got to get the bed slats separately which is a pain in the arse though. Good mattress and shit bed slats and you won't notice the difference.
