When I used to trade it was through HSBC because I bank with them. There was never any hassle moving funds from my current account to my trading account.In the old days going through a Broker was a pain in the arse and it was a lot harder to move with the market.

Trading 212, easy and simple to use, fees are next to nothing, and you get decent interest on the cash in your account.

Hi, hope someone can help please. My sister-in-law died earlier this year and left money in a stocks&shares ISA with a stockbroker. ISAs are tax free but does it stay tax free after death if she doesn’t have to pay Inheritance Tax? Ta.

As I understand it, the value of the ISA would be included in the entire estate for inheritance tax purposes. It stops becoming a tax free wrapper
the firm with the ISA should be able to give you more information though.
As above, it would form part of the estate otherwise everyone would just put everything into an isa and nothing other than property would be subject to inheritance tax.
The tax free element is not having to pay tax on the growth of the pot as the shares increase in value.

I did a bit of temping for a share dealing bit of a bank and job was to note the letters that were returned. Lots of them had statements of shares that had took a nose dive. A travel company was one and a bank.Traders call private investors the Krill of the stockmarket.

Those of you trading, have you made good money of it? I have always thought trading is risky and would rather just put money in an index fund like the S&P 500

Does anyone know what sort of protection these apps offer? For example, if the company running it goes bust, how likely are you to get your money back? Are they guaranteed or insured in any way?

I use Freetrade and Hargreaves Lansdown. Got a stocks and shares fund and sipp fund with HL and FTSE 100 on Freetrade.
