BWSL 2022/23 Everton vs Manchester City Match Thread

Probably the best I have seen us play this season. It would have been nice to have scored more but at the end of the day it was 3 points.

I was quite impressed by Blakstad today, seemed to make us more direct. I've been impressed by Hasagawa before today, but I thought she was a bit of a weak link when pressed.

Shaw continues to impress, if only she could head the ball better.

Everton are another physical side (foul a lot), and a tough team to beat, so a good result.

Yep, but what would CFC, The Arselettes, and the Ragettes made of those chances! Can't see them hitting the post/bar as often!
It's nothing new for a City team to have 25 goal attempts and score 2, at every level. It does my head in, yet in an upcoming game they'll have 10, and score 6 somewhere, this also does my head in. Like most, I don't like inconsistency.

I thought we played OK yesterday on the whole, but we also gave away a needless goal (see all City teams), but a lot of it is down to the way our teams play, it's high risk, and often high reward.

I thought Everton played well, well they were a difficult opponent, physical, but in the end we still overcame them, and the 3 points were important, and we're ahead (points wise) of where we were last season.

Think Hasegawa is totally wasted as a dm, would like to see her pushed further forward to make use of her skills in an attacking position. Move Aleixandri into midfield and probably take out Castellanos who hasn't convinced me as a WSL player as yet.

My current work pattern is fucking me up for watching the team, this season, but your point has been an echo of mine from what I've managed to see, so far.

Agree - I think Castellanos is really more of a deep lying forward than a midfielder, but seeing as we don't play with one we're trying to shoehorn her in. She's got some quality and is a good player, but I'd be worried about how effective she'll be in midfield against the rags with how they play.

It was a grievously disappointing weekend - the Arselettes let us down by losing, CFC disappointed by not scoring another three in the second half, and we hit the bar 'n post more times than we put the ball in the net. Hopefully, all in flunter next Sunday!

Fully agree with this. She doesn't get involved, on or off the ball, anywhere near consistently enough to be playing where she is.

Can understand why Taylor isn't rushing to do it, but switching to a 4-2-3-1 has to be a worth a try at some point. Castellanos and Hasegawa would both be more suited to playing in the in the middle of the three/behind the striker, and having a less adventurous two sitting would ask less of Coombs and Aleixandri (whether she's in defence or midfield).
