Callum Hudson-Odoi arrested on suspicion of rape.

And Im sure your trust is well placed. But nowhere have any authorities either named him or said on what allegation or offence he was arrested on suspicion of. Any details of this have come from hacks who have been busy through the day piecing bits together.

I am sure you are right but that doesn't stop us blaming them does it.

(I don't think I need to insert a smiley here do I)

Nowhere has it been said by police what the man was arrested for either

It's an interesting debate, but you're wrong on this at least. I'll just post the police statement again for you.

A police spokesman said: 'Police and London Ambulance Service were called at 03:53hrs on Sunday, 17 May to a report of an unwell woman.

'When emergency services attended, a woman reported that she was raped. She was taken to hospital.

'A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of rape. He was released from custody and bailed to return on a date in mid-June.'

So the police most certainly did say what the man was arrested for.

It's in the Daily Mail story, linked at the beginning of the thread like the original quote.

Or are you going to try to argue the Daily Mail (& Telegraph*)invented an official statement from the Metropolitan Police and it's still up 24h later?

Telegraph -

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police and London Ambulance Service were called at 03:53hrs on Sunday, 17 May to a report of an unwell woman.

“When emergency services attended, a woman reported that she was raped. She was taken to hospital.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of rape. He was released from custody and bailed to return on a date in mid-June.”

That wasnt the initial statement and so duly noted that it has now been added. Thanks

I'm sure they didn't, but they've put out a statement that "a man" has been arrested, and the scum journalists will have worked it out, so It's still unfair his name is in the public domain, and that is linked to a police statement, why was one made ?
Police report all their activities. The press scour through them every day for news before adding made up shit and putting it in the papers. Your local rag will contain several news items regarding arrests, charges, court dates etc but without the hype.

The wage footballers are on I bet its settled our of court, if its its true

Apart from that Sheff UTD chap years ago do any footballers get in trouble for this sort of thing?

It's always been a controversial stance to name rape suspects in the press but it's done none the less, this happens more and more now where a mere accusation without going to the police gets published in the press and played out in the mainstream media (The USA are guilty of this a lot).

I'll wait for him to be found guilty before I judge him, the same as I do with Trump Biden or any others.

Bloody hell.

Yeah he broke national lockdown rules, and we can all morally judge him on that, but rape is a very, very serious allegation. I find it truly absurd that an allegation like that can be allowed to be made public while the police investigation is still ongoing and no charges has been put forward yet.
