Aston Villa are on great form at the moment, they are scraping games without playing really well and they are getting into a knack of getting late goals, they are currently only five points off Liverpool in first and they have one of the best away records in the league. I think they will get in the top four but could they really go all the way and win the title?

I don't think they can win the title this year, but they certainly can snag one of the top four spots.

I think they can challenge for the title. I'm not so sure they can win it though.

no, they are a good outfit but dont have anywhere near the squad to win it. they have also been very lucky in a lot of games, it will run out soon.
they have been lucky with injuries and suspensions, if all these things even out over a season then the rails will come off at some point.
all that said it would be great if they somehow managed it, i like their manager and reckon should anyone pull off a miracle he can.

They can certainly get a top 4 place. They are strong defensively, have arguably the best keeper in the league hard working midfield in Sidwell, Young and Barry and don't forget their getting decent results without John Carew and we know how important he is to them in terms of goals.

We've had injuries to Carew, Laursen and Bouma. Carew and Bouma more so and they're still out. I think that we've got 4 players on 4 yellows too so we may start to struggle a bit as our squad has no depth and little quality.

Luke Young is playing left back as Shorey hasn't met the grade and Bouma is injured. Cuellar and Reo Coker have been playing RB and they're both ou of position. CM seems crowded with the Excellent Petrov, Sidwell and Barry.

I think if we can sign some quality players this window we may get a top 4 place. If no new faces of quality are bought Arsenal will catch us, Everton also.

Win the league? Can't see many Villans saying yes to that!!!!

I like the way Aston Villa have progressed under O'Neill. They won't challenge for a while but they are certainly top four material barring any suspension or injury problems. They do need a slightly stronger squad though. I like the way O'Neill has brought in a lot of English players that now make up a large part of the squad.

can't see everton getting anywhere near you, the arse is iffy too.
would love cuellar here.
good luck.

Cuellar has been an excellent signing for us and a snip at 7M. Luke young's fee i baulked at (6M) but he's proved to be an excellent signing too.

Shorey on the other hand has been well out of his depth and we're all desperate for Bouma to come back.

No, can do a top 4 spot though.
To me it looks like O'Neill just lets them play their natural game and get on with it, alot of ball play in the midfield instead of across the back line like we do.

Well they won the old first division back in 1980/81 , and then went on to win the European Cup the season after ....... so a major surprise is always possible again , just as it was back then.

But realisitically i'll be astonished if they achieve the consistency required for a Premiership win over 38 matches ....... they're always likely to lose more games than the top four clubs .

Villa have lost four games so far , and they need to keep that number somewhere between four and seven to even get a look in for the title ........ the rags won it losing just 5 games last season , yet the other three contenders just below them lost even less!

But like i said , i don't think they'll manage it.

Good side but they rely on Ashley Young sooooooo much.

Thought they were pretty lucky to win today tbh.

Could maybe say the same about United last year, relying on Tranny soooooo much.

I would love them to win the league, just to break up the "big four" monotony and p*ss all over Sky's Grand Slam Sunday chips
