Can England win the world cup??

Sure, but we have to step up our game against the big teams. I look back at the Spain result and the gap is obvious, but we have the time and ability to close the gap just in time for the World Cup. And that's were players like Shrek should step up and do their magic - he's never done it for England before for one reason or another.

Yes. It's only Spain or Holland that are anywhere near us on our day. Holland were the best team at the Euros just got gazumped by Arshavin in the quarters, Germany were finalists but we beat them in Berlin with our near enough second string, Spain beat us in the friendly when we didn't have Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard or Rio fit. It's only us, Holland and Spain with 100% qualification records so far and when we play Holland in a friendly in Amsterdam in August we will see who is the best team along with Spain in the world, providing we don't have too many key players missing lol.

We lack decent strikers at the top level. Can you see Crouch of Heskey coming in and doing a job for England against a world class defence? Not sure the Gerard and Lampard midfield works either.

8 goals in last 6 games for Rooney mate. I go to England games regularly and you don't appreciate what he does for the team unless you watch him live, he is our best player along with Lampard definately. I never used to rate either very highly either, but I know what you mean bout upping our game against the big teams, Spain have the 2 best mids in the world with Xavi and Iniesta and the best 2 strikers with Villa and Torres, we had a lot of key players missing or not fit i.e Lampard and Gerrard, we would have found it hard against them with these 2 in the mid never mind without. Back onto Rooney, best player at euro 04 as an 18 year old before breaking his foot, Germany 06 hadn't recovered properly from another broken foot and rushed back, ineffective.

I think we can win it next year to be honest, might not play to well but like Capello's Madrid team they still get results. I hope that City have a few in the 23 man squad too:
Shaun Wright Phillips
Gareth Barry
Joleon Lescott
Nedum Onouha
Joe Hart
Wayne Bridge

It never used to but now Fabio has got Barry, well SWP or Becks tonight, to mop up behind them. Lampard is England's best player at the minute, form of his life and puts 110% in.

Sorry but Rooney is world class, taking off my blue tinted glasses etc etc. I also reckon Agbonglahor could offer quite a bit come 2010.
