i thought to start this thread to open a discussion about thread management. I dont know how you people can read threads for dozens of pages, sometimes hundreds, without getting lost.

how can you start a topic with a title like "Joe Hart" and keep it open for many months without knowing where to pick up where the discussion starts again... while discussing so many different things about hart.

this is just to say that if a topic start with very specific title like "Joe Hart performance against aston villa" we will end up with a limited number of contributions and readers wont be intimidated by the cheer number of pages to go through.

thats all :)

It's a bit like player management really!! You just wade through & ignore what you don't like & never, ever listen to your Manager. :-)

Don't really have an issue with the long threads. Sometimes I'll dip in and out of a thread with a particular title and find that its morphed into something completely different. Perhaps could do with changing the title.

I think we could do with a sticky "Squabbling" thread. For those who just like arguing with posters they don't like. Sometimes you can find that the last 4 or 5 pages of a thread consists entirely of "you said .... no I didn't....yes you did" posts. Makes it difficult to pick up the gist of the thread.

Don't know if this helps you with you getting lost, but if you want to continue reading the thread from where you last read up to, you can click the little icon next to the thread title. If you already knew that, sorry, was just trying to be helpful. :-)

Thanks for that Skash! Been crying out for that feature. Even recommended it to Ric not knowing it was right under my nose.

Nice one, Skash. This was bugging me too. A really useful tip.

That's brilliant, can't believe I'd never stumbled upon that before. Cheers Skashion.
