So, everyone's in agreement, we've spent a fucking shit load, but if the guy who cost us £6m around 9 years ago gets crocked, then we're fucked?
Deals like that are few and far Between and I had not heard of Vinnie till he rocked upSo, everyone's in agreement, we've spent a fucking shit load, but if the guy who cost us £6m around 9 years ago gets crocked, then we're fucked?
Oh Exeter you really do have it bad.
When the first Newcastle player was sent off we were leading 2-0 at home to West Ham and Liverpool were leading 2-1 (the finished result).
So for those sending offs to have any influence we would have had to concede 3 at home to West Ham in 24 minutes or alternatively West ham force a draw and Liverpool to score another 13 and win 15-1 to over turn us on goal difference.
So please let me know which result Fatty Dowd hoped for when he decided to fix the match, to make it a contest' and risk a jail term
for? Which result was he expecting at the Etihad? In fairness to you its not the most implausible of conspiracy theories I have read on here.
Let me know when you have finished with the crack pipe again.
No, I really don't think so. This will be regarded as Peps first season according to our hierarchy. Top 3. Good CL position and a trophy. Anything else will be a welcome bonus. Next year, however, at least the league or CL. IMO of course xIf we don't Pep's in trouble with the amount he'll spend by the time the season starts
Classic Frank, zeroing in on the exception and citing it as evidence of the rule! My profuse apologies re the timing of Newcastle's red cards. I had it in my head that the one for dissent came after the awarding of the lamest free kick you'll ever see, but it would appear that the Newcastle player only received a yellow for that and then a second yellow after Liverpool predictably scored from said free kick. The other came after Dommett and Suarez accidentally collided during a Liverpool attack, but was no less of a ridiculous decision by Dowd. And of course in your glee at getting to quote from the big boy's book of sarcasm, you appear to have omitted to consider that Dowd would not have known what the score at City was (unless you're suggesting that a la Auric Goldfinger, he had Jill Masterson secreted in the rafters at the Etihad with a pair of binoculars, feeding him the score via a hidden ear piece?). He did what he could, namely facilitated a Liverpool win.
You know that I'm generally prepared to agree with you that many of BM conspiracy theories are palpable nonsense, but I have never shared your belief that many referees aren't susceptible to pressure or that others aren't biased due to childhood allegiances and so forth. Peter Walton was one, Anthony the Altrincham fan is another. For his part, Fatty Dowd always struck me as a Sky 4 apologist of the first order and I hated having him referee our games. Two incidents are indicative of nothing in themselves, but just for kicks and giggles here he is robbing us blind in the Carling Cup semi at Klanfield and somehow deeming Vidic bringing down Agbonlahor 9 yards from goal at Wembley as not being a clear scoring opportunity, so he wouldn't have to send the cheating rag bastard off. Enjoy
Hi Exeter,
Nice to lock horns once again with a bit of verbal sparring. In the context of the Liverpool v Newcastle match your argument would have had more merit if Liverpool were losing and the players were then sent off but actually by that stage they were winning the game. Either way, if a referee was set the task of denying us the league the contentious decisions and fixing of the result would have had to have taken place at the Etihad (as a win or draw for us was all that was required) and I think in all honesty you know that. Incidentally the referee Phil Dowd disallowed a liverpool goal that game, a Suarez free kick taken early as it was slightly rolling. Correct decision but again if he wanted to influence the match in Liverpools favour there is another example of how he could have done it.
Thanks for the videos but and in one of those instances a penalty was given against United, although I agree it was probably a sending off.
A more enjoyable memory of Phil Dowd was giving wigan a corner which Maloney scored off and denying United a penalty from a Figueroa handball late on. Never a corner and if the referee was biased could easily have given a penalty.
The game? Wigan won 1-0, the start of United dropping points and led to us winning the league in 2012. Prior to that Match the dream looked impossible. Was he biased in our favour? I do not think so just the nature of football.
Back on topic do you think we will win it. Im feeling more and more confident but the issue at Centre half needs addressing.
