Can you stop a Battery clock from ticking ?

We have a couple of normal (AA battery) wall clocks and theyre ticking is starting to drive me nuts but it seems you cant buy one that doesnt fucking well tick............and theres no tock, just tick tick tick etc

Does anyone know a way to stop it ?

If it has the fairly standard black quartz movement on the back (where the battery fits) you can replace it with a silent sweep movement (about £3 off Fleabay).

It's a piece of cake to take quartz movement clocks apart and replace, yet many people bin these when they stop working, thinking that the repair would be costly or more than the price of the clock.
