Caused a bit of a stir.

No one is sure if she is advocating hitler being a **** as long as he kept it in germanys borders or is just a bit dense.

I think she is just a bit thick or possibly under researched so that what she is trying to express comes out really badly - I'll cut her a bit of slack bearing in mind she is American, she is young ( some of our youth would probably be of the same mindset ) and doesn't really understand what horrors German National Socialism under Adolf Hitler really represents. If I am wrong I assume her next step is holocaust denier and full cnutishness.

She is dense.

She's one of those people that likes to think that if they can string words together well, they're 'intelligent'.

She does this all the time with conflating issues and thinks she's right.

She's a tool.

She'll get torn a new one back in the States.

That woman stood like a kid outside the headmasters office is a politician? She looks like i did when i was waiting for my mum to get called in so her and the headmaster could take turns bollocking me for whatever i had done.

She is young it seems so she has time to learn but really needs to learn to hold herself better. Then again if the feelings for her in this chat are widespread we probably won't know her name this time next year.... ladies and gentlemen, your new president, this lass!

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

what she is saying (i think) is that nationalism is ok and then qualifying that with a statement that nationalism doesn't mean Nazi Germany as an ideal.

Its not very well put together, i suppose she means patriotism rather than actual nationalism.

Clumsy, but not really worthy of outrage unless you are a liberal snowflake..

At least that's what i hope i am witnessing lol

Don't know her other political opinions or anything about her but to me I can't imagine she's defending Hitler's policies in Germany although I can see how people might insinuate that. I'm sure if she was asked directly, 'what did you think of Hitler's policies against German jews and minorities?', you would get a better answer. Also she's right about nationalism being poisoned by its association with Hitler, like socialism is, and like atheism sometimes is. None of those ideas and beliefs (or lack of) prescribe mass murder.

So. I suppose the situation is best summed up by thinking that if your beliefs are best summed up in terms of reference to some sort of positive you see in Nazi Germany then you are best not presenting them in that way and in fact you need to question your beliefs and how you think they are relevant to the modern free world?
