Okay, it isn't just because I'm in it that I'm posting this.
This is a genuinely interesting story about transported convicts in Australia, albeit an extremely rare one. It's about a bunch of men who escaped from the penal settlement at Macquarie Harbour, on the wild west coast of Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania). Not planning ahead too well, they ran out of food after a few days and one of the men, formerly in the navy, mentioned that he'd heard about starving men drawing lots to see who might be sacrificed so that the others might survive.
I'll not say any more as that will spoil it, but I can heartily recommend the film - if you've got a spare hour to kill, do give it a go on the IPlayer link. It's pretty accurate too, and even I - as someone writing his thesis on the period - didn't get uppity about historical inaccuracies. Tasmania looks as beautiful as I remeber as well.
Oh, and did I mention I'm in it? ;-)
