Every close season, I am the same. I cannot wait for City to be playing again, and to get the chance to watch the young additions to the team showing their stuff on the US tour. I confess to boredom watching international football. It has got worse over the years but I just don't have the same attachment to the national team that I have to City. I am sure that I am not alone, but roll on the pre-season and the 2024/25 season ahead.

I agree but our players haven't had a really rest now for nearly 3 years apart from Grealish and Haaland. I worry about burnout, yes we won the league but by our standards we weren't great

Don’t things change? We won the league with a below par season. Not quite the same as “Phew, we got to 40 points.”
You’re right about the lack of rest and it gets worse next season with the world club championship and an extra tie in CL(?). And if the yanks have their way, we’ll all have to fly to US for a league match. FIFA say it’s nothing to worry about, but they are thinking with their wallets.

I will be amazed if we don’t suffer from this in the coming season. It’s been relentless for the players.

That old chestnut?

Elite sport is decided by fine margins, one being fatigue.

I'll never buy it. They can literally go straight in the cryotherapy chamber, have a light warm down in anti gravity then every limb personally massaged by specialists. Don't want to fucking hear a word of it. Give the cunts 50 hours on a building site labouring they will soon see how good they have it.

If they want to go back to 1970s one game a week they can go back to the equivalent wages aswell. The money has to come from somewhere.

Fair enough, but sports science suggests otherwise.

The real comparison would be two identical building sites, where one work a 50 hour week and the other work a 40 hour one, not comparing it to footballers dealing with sleeping at random times, flying here, there and everywhere and sprinting, turning and spinning at 100% intensity for 180 mins a week. All whilst getting kicked lumps out of.

The 40 hour site might be better in the long run as the workers might be happier and more productive.
