Can't stand me now

I never knew Danny Drinkwater was the Malaga manager ;)

Good that fella!

But I might well be mental, and he might well have not been trying to make the team lose, but the way he kept getting the same things wrong over and over again throughout the three years (two men in centre mid), the team's fitness, putting players in positions or under tactics that simply do not suit them (Demichelis in a high line defence, Yaya in a midfield two with Fernando, Delph in the left), his clear lack of preparation for many games (Leicester at home for example), and putting stupid line-ups out at Chelsea FAC and Southampton in the Prem - not losing on purpose but putting us incredibly difficult circumstances to win.

And you're right about not building a rapport with the fans. I have no real emotion towards him neither.

Wrote this about Manuel, City and the past few years:

Any feedback/sharing is much appreciated

Brilliant Liam, excellent read. Brought back lots of memories. Nice man pellers - this charming man infact - but tactically inept on too many occasions.
Id of sacked him after the Southampton game (controversial i know!) - but that performance was shocking.
i wish him look, i will sing his name next week at swansea - but time to move on.

Top article Liam, I relate to every thing you said and share your disappointment and pain. There is unbelievably a big disconnect between the club and fans that I would not have imagined possible given our present owner. Big balls up somewhere but those running the club seem oblivious to it.
Pep will not be able to resolve all the issues!

Good stuff Liam, especially the Mancini bit. I still get a warm feeling about Roberto and he will always have a place in many City fans hearts.
Pellers though will not be missed in the same fashion. My lasting memory of him will be when i was lucky enough to visit the dressing room at one of this seasons big away games and of how flat the place seemed to be. Compare this to the lively and noisy atmosphere in the home dressing room and it was easy to see what was missing.
His calm approach/persona could not fire the players up in the big matches and this translated into performances.

Nice article well reasoned and argued
I would have liked Viera for half a season
Roll on indeed

One of the stand out points you raise, for me is why has MP been allowed to prolong our malaise. You correctly identified Real Madrids turnaround, You mentioned Vieira but it would have been difficult with his job in NYC, I've said frequently that perhaps Wilcox who seems to be doing a good job at EDS could have been given a shot at seeing this team through to Pep, he certainly couldn't have done much worse.

Good article mate.

It's quite obvious now that the club had a long term plan which was to get Pep Guardiola and a successful and popular Mancini was a spanner in the works to achieving this and this is the real reason I think he lacked support from the suits and was removed at the very earliest opportunity.

Pellegrini was the safe pair of hands on the tiller until Pep's arrival, but when you look at the team Pellegrini inherited, to the team Pep will inherit it makes you wonder if it was all worth the wait and regression.

It is what it is though. Mancini is gone and we only have another 90 minutes of Pellegrini to endure and then its over to Pep. If he can get us playing to the level I saw recently from Bayern, that would be great, the issue is, how long will this take to achieve especially with the increased competition and money in the Premier League.

Being the operative word

edit: saying that I can see us going out an tearing Swansea a new arsehole, all for it to be in vein

Vieira should not have been given the NYC job. For me the Leicester game was a real red flag that things were going badly wrong, coming as it did after similar performances at home against Liverpool and away at Spurs. The team wasn't just losing it was imploding before our eyes. At that point I don't think anyone would have complained if he had been sacked and Vieira appointed as a caretaker. At least then we would have someone who bothered to even try and organise the team and someone the players would have respected. It's clear from the performances that the players stopped believing in Pellegrini after the Pep announcement.
