Canterbury Cathedral

There is too much shit graffiti around, every city is starting to look the same.
Some commissioned public art is good but some is overbearing and only seems to be there for appreciation by a narrow yoof-oriented sections of the public.

No idea what you mean by the word shill but the last time I heard, according to The Church of England itself there has been a small increase in congregations in recent years. I know speaking for myself, although I’m not what would be regarded as a regular church attendee, I know I wouldn’t like graffiti written over it, even if it was done by the biggest graffiti addict of them all, Banksy.

they are removable stick on transfers - no harm done. Its art and art in churches has a centuries old tradition - here is some recent stuff

it’s temporary and will come off in a couple weeks, a non story really for the usual right wing brigade to be outraged by until the next thing.

There are some of the nations finest, heading over there right now. Festooned in flags. A couple of Knights Templars. And a bucket of lime, to right the wrong and burn down a few hotels. Makes you proud.

Its a fucking temporary thing.

Not a fan either, but I dont loose my shit over it.

But, to be fair, I'm not a right wing, forelock tugging, flag shagging, god bless you Gov'nor, wasn't the Empire smashing, bald, fat, bellend.

My hair alone.

Can bald people tug their forelocks?

How the fuck does anyone believe religion to be a thing, Magic man in the sky bullshit. The number of conflicts, issues, hatered and division in the name of god is shocking.

I believe it would be better to have a belief / value structure for society to work with.

Having said that i can understand fully people wanting to believe in something better.

A few years ago Lichfield Cathedral had some Arabic writing on banners and someone was kicking off about Islamic texts in a Christian cathedral. They were texts from the Bible in Arabic.

Fuck about in a mosque and find out what they think about it, the Christian churches are doing gay marriages have gay priests and are the first out of the traps when an Islamic terrorists kills people asking for unity.

But on here Christians seem to be the cunts.

There are some very strange moral cowards on here.

Yes, many Christian denominations now perform same-sex marriages, including the Methodist Church, the Church of Scotland, the United Reformed Church, and the Scottish Episcopal Church. However, this is not a universal practice, and other major denominations like the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of England do not currently allow same-sex marriages, though some within these traditions may hold different views or participate in other ways
No, same-sex couples cannot legally marry in a UK mosque, as the UK's Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 requires a religious organization to "opt in" to conduct these ceremonies, and Islamic authorities have not opted in. Same-sex couples can, however, legally marry in some Jewish synagogues if the specific governing body within the faith has given its consent to do so. For either a mosque or a synagogue, the couple must check with the specific religious authority to confirm their ability to conduct the marriage.
For the moral cowards who don't get off their knees long enough to educate themselves. It's no wonder the good people of Dibley turn their backs on certain people.

Meh. Not in my top tier of English cathedrals
Not sure I agree. Guess what you mean by top tier. Definitely in the top ten imo.

In no particular order.

Westminster
Lincoln
Lichfield
Durham
Wells
Chichester
York
Ely
Liverpool (both) - I know that’s cheating!
And Canterbury.

Maybe I’ve missed a really good one off?

Top ten is definitely top tier imo.

It’s not in the top five though. I’ll agree with that.

In the UK, the Methodist Church, the Scottish Episcopal Church, the Church of Scotland, the United Reformed Church, the Quakers, and Liberal Judaism allow for same-sex marriages. The Church of England, the Church in Wales, and the Roman Catholic Church do not, though the Church of England now offers prayers to celebrate a civil same-sex marriage and allows clergy in civil partnerships.

Again, for the apologists.

Salisbury would be in with a shout for me too.

St Michael’s on the Mount must be worth a mention.
