THe US asked for him to be extradited before we charged and tried him.

The U.S. want Masri to stand trial for 11 counts relating to the taking of 16 hostages in Yemen in 1998

He should stand trial in Yemen not the USA

The US have basically said "why dont we just take him off your hands" least it saves us having to deal with him and the tax payer paying for his up keep either on benefits or in jail.

What if we, take this serious now its an important point. What if you or I do something that is OK in this country but against the law in the US, think about this now. Should the US be allowed to extradite us?

I'm thinking how can organising terrorist camps in the US from this country NOT be against the law.

If I were to commit a crime against another country I would expect to face trial in that country, the mad cleric used our protection to try to hurt the US and the coalition.

Extradition is a tool that's been around for years and he's not immune because he claims to be a man of God.

On a lighter note the fella on the left had me in stitches :-)

Didn't notice him to be fair. Was to busy looking at the beautiful women.

Thats the crux of the matter.

But how can you commit a crime when you are not in the country whose laws you break?

I find this a fundamental democratic right. You live by the laws you are directly governed by, not by some random laws from another distinct country.

As i said i think Hamza is an odious man who i would rather didnt live in our country as i expect 99.99999% of people do, yet i find the granting of his extradition disturbing. US law is setting precedents in UK law. The way our law works means this case will make it easier for others to be extradited for crimes against a country they have never been to too.

Im not a lawyer obviously, but it worries me

Planning to attack another country would constitute as a crime in the country that the alleged attacks would have taken place .

The legal profession and the judicial system have decided that.

And I don't find it distasteful at all...it's about time.

Oh well, I'm sure he won't be missed by many in this country. Hope he enjoys his time in a US prison.

Did he have to give back his NHS-supplied hook prior to departure?

I hope they did not let him on the plane with it, they won't even let me take a bottle of water!

Anyway, good riddance anyway, he never liked it here so he said

Fair enough.

It sits uneasy with me though, not because of hamza, but i fear the precedent set.

Well they've gone. Hot from the BBC News website.

Five terror suspects, including the radical cleric Abu Hamza, fly out of the UK from RAF Mildenhall on a plane bound for the USA.
