I can totally understand what these eco protestors are on about - we do need to act on climate change - but their methods achieve nothing but alienating the people they should be trying to convince. It's insane.

Yep, let's assume her underlying motives were good, ignoring the distastefulness of it, it is mind numbingly naive to think this type of act would be productive just because it increases visibility. It simply provides grist to the mill for the vested interests to deflect from the issues and create the narrative that climate activists are extremists ergo climate change isn't a mainstream issue which it 100% is.
