40 minute train to London job done, it’s a whole day and/or an
Overnight stay for midweek games at City, happy days, love the League Cup
Final, they should rename it the Man City cup if we win it on the 24th Feb....!

What's the script with getting from Watford to Wembley .... ie where's best for a slurp, which stations to use, rough price and are they regular.... staying in Hemel Hempstead night before, gonna get up have a big nosebag then get on the loud mouth soup

So sorry for butting in when I am a fan of SAFC but this (my involvement on this thread) actually is quite relevant. It was THAT League Cup final and a personal experience of a great show of sportsmanship between a small bunch of your fellow fans congregated outside of the East Stand and us on the coach I was on that made Manchester City FC my new and No.1 second favourite team. I will be especially cheering you on this year as I have never liked London teams getting to Wembley. A big part of the experience of the fans is the journey to the stadium. It will only take them about half an hour. It takes about our hours for us in the NE.

One thing I have always wanted to ask is do you ever get bored of tired of winning the EFL Cup? Three of your five have come in the last five years. Do you ever see yourselves losing interest in it? And would it bother you if you got knocked out in next seasons competition?
Never get bored of winning things mate, especially when we were shite for so many years.

Please tell us your story of sportsmanship.

I love League Cup finals and this will be my sixth. Less corporates and more real fans make the atmosphere better than the FA Cup final in my view. Never get sick of success because we were starved of it for so long. Even this season's Community Shield was great. I have nothing but good things to say about Sunderland fans at Roker Park, The Stadium of Light, and at Wembley when we played you. I hope you have finally turned the corner.

Great fans hope you get back to the promise land soon

Sunderland fans top my list, we met a bunch of them before the cup final and shared beers and food from our car. They said win or lose they would meet us after the game at my car. We came out of Wembley to a lined prossession of Mackems applauding City fans for winning the cup !! Amazing and something I’ve never ever seen before. We got back to the car and there they were waiting for us and shaking our hands congratulating us ! That will stay with me forever ! Imagine that with the Rags ??

Great post pal.

Loved the atmosphere at that final.
You are a top bunch of guys.

Just to echo what several blues have already said I applaud Sunderland fans for their behaviour at that final. Made the school boy error of parking my car at the east end of the ground and had to make my way through 30k mackems along with my daughter. Not a single bit of bother from your lot.
After the game a large group of you clapped us down the concourse from the ground. I can honestly say that has never happened to me at any ground in the world.
As far as getting bored of winning...not a chance. Decades of starvation have seen to that.
Good luck for the rest of the season and hope to see you back in the PL soon.

When the second leg of the semi-final between Sunderland and United was on, we were in Newcastle for a Mogwai concert. We went to a local pub after and saw the last few minutes of the tie, including the penalty shoot out.

At the start, as might be expected, most of the locals were backing United. However as things progressed even the Geordies saw the funny side of United's ineptitude and many cheered when Sunderland went through. Was it 2-1 or 3-1?

After the final I had a long chat with Sunderland supporters in the Ibis Hotel, Wembley. There was great rapport between the City fans and the Mackems throughout.

The season before, myself and my son got the train from Edinburgh to London for the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea. The train at Edinburgh was fully of Newcastle supporters travelling for the lunchtime derby against Sunderland. By the time we got the train back many of the same Newcastle fans got on the train at Newcastle somewhat worse for the wear after yet another home defeat by Sunderland (3-0 I think). They disrupted the journey and eventually a load of them were ejected at Alnwick. They were nicked by the British Transport Police and probably ended up with a night in the cells rather than getting back to Berwick or Edinburgh.
