Via twitter I was asked about the day Cardiff's game at Huddersfield was postponed and their fans came to Maine Road instead to watch City v Southampton, Tuesday 28th December 1993. I was sat in the new Umbro/Platt Lane that night but the sight of the Cardiff fans had totally slipped my mind. Since then others have reminded me (I still struggle to remember - though I can't currently remember what 'outside' is like either) that about 150 Cardiff fans sat in the North Stand with a Welsh flag throughout the game. As they were in a City section they seemed to support us that night.

Anyone else remember the specifics? Any memories would be appreciated. Cheers.

Cant remember much myself to be honest.
I was at the game, they were sat in the bottom right of north stand if you looked at it from the umbro stand.
I remember someone saying their game was called off v Stockport County.
If your saying huddersfield though....I'll go with that.

Think it was Stockport they should have played. That was the same season Cardiff turned us over in the FA cup.
Fairly certain it was a 3pm kick off not a night game. Makes sense as the 28th would be a bank holiday.

It was definitely Huddersfield they should've played that day. I've checked their original fixtures. You're right about the kick off time. It was an afternoon.

I remember this game, Southampton fans were sat in the upper part of the away section, the Cardiff fans were put into the lower section. They spent a lot of the game chanting at each other but I don't think it got any worse than that. Don't remember them cheering any of the goals either. It was a strange day

Surprised Cardiff’s support behaved themselves. They’re so chavvy. Tend to meet a few watching Wales in their one designer outfit. Swansea have got so much more about them as a club.

They must have been with official supporters club trip, around 100 most wearing club colours, They must have informed the club beforehand because it was well organised. The police sat between them and Southampton with the usual segregation between home and away fans. Fair play to them, I would've wanted to go straight home/pub.

The Championship must get tasty with Cardiff, Leeds, Stoke and Millwall in the same division.

I went to Ninian Park with Hereford once. We got bussed in with a police escort.

I'm sure there was another match much earlier than this, probably mid 80's where the same thing happened, and I've got it in my head it was Cardiff again

They were stood in the open corner between the north stand and Kippax
