Burnley lose the first leg 4-1 at WHL

Burnley win second leg 3-0

Now by my reckoning, Burnley go through on away goals, the ONLY way it can go to ET is if both legs were 4-1...wtf is going on? Does the away goals rule only count after ET?

Spot on. Unfortunately, away goals only count after extra time. Pity!!

Its a farce, how can it be right that the away team in the 2nd leg get an extra 30 mins to score a goal that counts double? If away goals are going to count then it has to be after 90 mins! I mean I am only getting on my high horse because I wanted Spurs out but the rules are wrong!

And why should the home team have 120 mins in front of their own crowd to score at least one more goal than their oponents. This rule change will be debated for quite some time I guess. I would like to see the end to extra time in all comps. I take kids with me to football and a game with extra time followed by penalties in an evening gets far too late for them to stay until the end.

Agreed.

Including extra time in it makes a complete mockery of the away goals rule. I'd love to here the justification for this. It's ludicrous.

Awful rule, why should one team we given an extra 30 minutes to score an away goal when the team who were away in the first leg only got 90 minutes to get as many away goals as they can.
