Can't see a thread on this already so here goes......

SSN just had Kia Joorabchian on, who has seemingly changed from Tevez's agent to "spokesperson". Anyway, Carlos is apparently in Buenos Aires with wife & newborn, and is training with the Argentinian squad on a daily basis for 2hrs. The club are being informed on his whereabouts on a daily basis, which makes us look a bit silly when Bobby says he doesn't know where he is. Carlos hopes to be back for Chelsea, so it's looking increasingly unlikely he will be here for the Stoke game. Step up Craig Bellamy.

About time Bellamy was given a run in his forward position anyway.

Johnson -- De Jong -- Barry -- SWP
Adebayor -- Bellers

Yep. If Tevez isn't back for Stoke, it should be the same team again apart from Bellamy for Johnson who's cup tied. You could also make an argument for Richards for Zabaleta because of his greater physical presence at set pieces, even though Zabaleta had a good game yesterday.

Johnson still cuptied.

Crap. That forces Bellers on to the left wing with Petrov out doesn't it, unless we play Stevie on a wing instead?

Bellamy & SWP either side of Ade would be my choice. Midfield options are limited so it'll probably be NDJ, Barry & Ireland again. We need Ireland to show up for this one.

Kia Joorabchian has defended Carlos Tevez's commitment to the Manchester City cause after Roberto Mancini "ordered" the striker to return to the club from Argentina, following the premature birth of his daughter.

Tevez has been granted compassionate leave to fly to his home country in order to be by the side of his daughter Katie, who is currently in intensive care after being born six weeks premature.

City manager Roberto Mancini is keen to have the club's top scorer back at his disposal though and, following a 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Sunday, said of Tevez: "It's a big problem for us because we have an important week and we don't have Tevez. For me it is no good. Carlos has been eight days at home and I don't know if, while in Argentina, he has been working (on his fitness).

"I hope Carlos, within the next two days, can come back here because we need him. Maybe he is on the plane. He had some problems with his family but now it has been resolved and I hope he comes back. I need him."

Tevez, who joined City last summer after spending two years with city rivals United, hopes to be back in time to play for Mancini's side in their game against Chelsea at the weekend.

Tevez has been outstanding this season, both under former manager Mark Hughes and Mancini, so the Argentine superstar was distressed to learn that his continued absence from the City team was addressed by his new Italian boss after the club's draw with Liverpool at Eastlands.

Joorabchian - the man who brought both Tevez and Javier Mascherano to English football in the summer of 2006 - chose his words carefully as he responded to Mancini's comments.

"Carlos is very keen to support the team and to come back as soon as possible," Joorabchian told Soccernet. "Carlos has given 100% to the team all season, he has given everything to the team, but his daughter has been in intensive care having been born prematurely.

"He has been clearly distressed to see his daughter in such a state with tubes coming out of her and her condition so serious. But his daughter is a little better now so he is hoping to come back for the Chelsea game at the weekend. He has not been AWOL, he has not stayed longer than he should, his daughter has had a serious problem."

Manchester City grant Carlos Tevez more time off

I hope they are wrong and looking at the article they appear to be.

In PR terms this just looks bad. The manager and club appearing not to be in control or even saying the same thing.
Joorabchian chirping up as the true voice of Tevez, reason and compassion. Get a grip!

yet in none of the quotes has he been 'ordered' to come back like the first sentence says.

I wonder if he's going to take his 3 months paternity leave?

From Daily Mail:

Baby's doctor is key to whether Carlos Tevez will be back for City's trip to Chelsea

Carlos Tevez will meet his baby's doctor to determine whether he can return from Argentina in time to play in Manchester City's game against Chelsea on Saturday.
The City striker has been on compassionate leave for a fortnight, since his wife Vanesa gave birth to their daughter six weeks prematurely.
Tevez looked set to clash with City manager Roberto Mancini when the Italian said he thought it was time for him to return to England, following Sunday's draw against Liverpool at Eastlands.
It is understood Tevez did not take kindly to those comments, but the situation could well be resolved, as he is hopeful he will hear his daughter has improved enough for him to leave South America.
This would mean he could return on Thursday and train ahead of Saturday's important Barclays Premier League match at Chelsea.
Kia Joorabchian, Tevez's adviser, said: 'When your child is in intensive care, it is a serious matter. Obviously, Carlos is having to go through a difficult period.
'He was determined to get back for the Liverpool game, but unfortunately the situation didn't get much better. However, his daughter has improved and Carlos wants to get back and play.'
Tevez will clearly not be back for City's FA Cup tie at Stoke on Wednesday. It is understood Joorabchian was angry when he heard about Mancini's comments on Sunday, but the City boss is not always helped in such situations by his limited English.
Tevez received a text from Mancini on Sunday asking about his daughter's health, but most communication has taken place between Joorabchian and City's football administrator Brian Marwood.
Joorabchian said: 'Carlos is training daily with Argentina's team and spending one-and-a-half to two hours there. He is a professional. He understands that side of it.'
City need Tevez back in action soon. He was their best player in December and January and they have struggled without him.

I think we'll see RSC alongside Ade again, with Ireland on the bench. It will be pass sideways through midfield until we eventually decide to pass backwards to the back 4. Then pass sideways until it reaches one of our full backs. Then hoof it up to Ade and/or Santa Cruz. Then lose possession and get 2 banks of 4 behind the ball. Then get the ball back and repeat the above process.

0-0 AET and on to penalties. Which is bad because Sorensen is probably better than given at saving pens.

In my view, its another case of the media trying to create a story where there isn't one. They conveniently forget that Mancini conducts his interviews in a language that is not his own and sometimes he gets the wrong end of the stick or provides the wrong impression. He has only been in this country a couple of months and has tried from day one to engage with the press and speak English, with some occasional help from an interpreter. Yet they jump on the slightest blip, present Mancini as heartless and make out there's confusion within the club. Joorabchian has tried to clear the matter up, he seems like a reasonable and articulate guy to me, and I don't think was having a go at us. I'm sure the club, including the manager, know the full situation with Tevez and his family, will give him the time he needs, and get him back as soon as reasonably possible, hopefully for the weekend.
