Cars you have had…

Back in the late 80's my Morris 1100 blow up lol I didnt have much money to replace it.
I went to a garage in Cheshire somewhere looking for a cheap car. The bloke said he had a 5 year old Lancia Beta round the back. It was at the time of the rust scandal, the crappy cheap steel.
I checked where the reported rust problems where and it was spotless. I offer him £150 he said yep.

So I bought a top of the range low mileage 5 year old Lancia Beta.

It went like a rocket, beautiful interior, great engine. Kept it for years and never had a problem with it.

It's my second most favourite car I have own behind my triumph spitfire
I bought a Lancia Delta HF Turbo in the early 90's. Committed all the classic mistakes, bought it in the Winter, 8 in the evening, pissing down with rain. Found out later it had a towbar and had been in Jersey most of it's life. You can guess the rest....

Lots of us Blues love French and Italian "tat" it seems - we sensibly let the gullible pay through the nose for German stuff and prosper by being able to buy our stuff at a sensible used price
Always found my French cars to be excellent value for money and reliable despite everyone telling me how shit they are supposed to be.

Thank you Haynes .. the journey would not have been possible without you : /

I read it and thankfully was lying down at the time. ;)

I had a car a good car and was told it was a good car then someone said it might not be that good but someone else says it was and not to listen to the prick then this random guy walking by says it would be economic over the years as it had great mpg and other stuff but he was in a hurry so left it there then I got a text and it was a guy I met at Butlins years ago asking if I wanted to buy a Rover and I says unless it’s a Labrador no way and he replied ok see you later and then I went for chips and the guy battering the fish says he thought his car was shite and only bought it because a guy at a bus stop said was good and we all laughed and then halfway up the road I realised I forgot to ask for pickles and had to go back but it was shut and then it started to rain I wish I had brought the car which was a Ford Granada dead old but still ok if you ignore the rust and the brown door
Nice

I had a couple of Ford Capris back in the day, second one being a 2 Litre Ghia, apparently they were too light at the back, but I never had a problem I absolutely loved them 39D08662-5E35-4DB9-97BC-B7E84B6BC4FD.jpeg

I had a mate who had a worse habit than me his addiction to all things Italian and French led him to owning a Strada 130TC - honest it pissed all over XR3's and a Marea saloon 5 cylinder - by God that was a boring car that went like a bat out of hell.
His Renault addiction has seen him own an R11 Electronique which had an electric dash in the 80's and made the Maestro's talking dash look unambitious. Last I saw he had a Renault Avantime - a ropey one but they all are but I admire his devotion.
