IMO Alexis gives us a great chance to win the PL but this man above gives us a real, real chance to win the CL, him and Kompany would be unplayable, don't know why we are so hesistant to spend the money for him, there won't be a better option next season or even the season after.

Who VVD? I'm sure we showed interest, but he might only be interested in Pool. Similar to how Alexis might only want to come here. If that's the case I think the club has moved on.

Yes VVD, could be but I think Tolm and Sam Lee and others hinted at the reason being that City were put off by the astromic price.

Even at 60m I would go for him because he is absolutely perfect for us.

The market is really inflated and it will continue to grow.

Doesn't it depend on how confident the club are about the likelihood of Kompany staying fit? If Kompany breaks down, or is assessed as likely to break down, then VVD seems like the obvious replacement and would be worth the money, as a replacement for Kompany. But a VVD/Kompany partnership doesn't seem very Pep like. I would expect that one of them, probably VVD, would spend quite a bit of time on the bench, unless we play a back 3 every week. If the medics are confident about Kompany's fitness then it makes greater sense to bring in a cheaper, more mobile 4th CB to complement the other 3.

It doesn't surprise me that we have delayed signing the 4th CB until late in the window. Vinny's fitness seems to be crucial to the choice of who we go for and how much we spend.

According to some of the 'connected' media, that is now the case, but also because of the price for VVD being higher than we are willing to pay.

If there is no replacement available, then we can't really sign one.

We now have to try & unearth one for next year.

I don't see why a VVD/Kompany partnership is not Pep like, both on excellent on the ball and very physical. VVD can also play with Stones and a back three with them all would be something special. VVD is for the present and can eventually replace Vinny as well.

We should act proactively by buying VVD, not reactively in waiting to see if Kompany can stay fit and then if not, buy someone.

There are loads of moments like this in City's history, when you can plainly see we are about to get it totally wrong, but assume the powers that be must know something you don't, & plenty of fans are happy, so you think, 'ok perhaps I'm wrong' then it turns out, nope you were right in the first place.

Luckily, wheras in the past it usually ended in disaster, now, the squad is so fucking good it's just a matter of whether we don't quite get away with it or do & everything is fixable.

Still, this is so obvious it beggars belief some folks can't see it imo.
