If its not a Extra CB why not keep Mangala or Use tosin? cant see it being back up myself, as much as i love Kompany his fitness is a worry

Naive from city. Kompany has been a walking injury for two seasons. He might have got over his muscle problems, but I can't be to hopeful of that.

I mean it makes sense. If Vinny stays fit and we bring in someone like say, Boateng, then any time we play a back four and everyone is fully fit it will be VK and JB. Which leaves not much playing time for at least one of Stones or Otamendi. Both of those two are good with Vinny, just not with each other.

I'm not comfortable with only having 3 full backs now that Kolarov is gone.

If we can get the relatively cheap option at CB and LB then I would do that rather than just one or the other.

Kieran Tierney from Celtic and Ben Gibson from Boro would be good squad editions in my opinion.

Not necessarily bad though, we've got our big name big price defenders, they haven't done great - perhaps an older veteran to just lead Stones or Otamendi when Kompany isn't there will do better.

Also maybe it points to the idea they feel they've actually fixed Vinny.

Knows pep, pep rates him, we tried to sign him on loan in Jan, left footed , free transfer and can play cb, lb or dm. Don't know if he would move here wants regular game time but I see very little downside in signing him.

Inigo Martinez has been looked at but decided against due to his height. Fits the bill for a Pep side but Pep has spoken a lot lately about 'headed duels' being important in England.I think we are likely to look at a squad player.

Not seen much of him. I know it seems to be pretty low down on the list of requirements for a pep centre back but can he actually defend?
