That's the ticket - though we have an equally good chance of getting any of the pot 1 teams UNLESS BT Sport pairs us with Chelsea -> in which case as soon as Chelsea are placed in the RED or BLUE half of the draw then we go in the other half. Instantly dropping our chances of a good draw.

We have previously been paired with United so I'd imagine that to be the case again. I think it's because UEFA can make sure we're at home when they're away and vice versa. Don't know if that will get confirmed prior to the event anywhere though.

If that is the case, hopefully Chelsea are put in the same half as Bayern and Barcelona and we'll have avoided them both before they even start drawing Pot 2.

Teams within 50 klms of each other cannot play on the same night.

So? You can still be paired with a team that plays < 50km away and play at home on different nights. That is what happened in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Re: Champions League 2015/16 seedings - City in pot 2/3?

So I maybe, maybe have too much time on my hands. I went ahead and took the teams currently slotted for pots 1 and 2 and did a random, not fixed (eh hem, UEFA) draw...ten times. Here are the results. Draw number, followed by groups and top two teams put into each group.

Draw 1:
A- Barcelona, Arsenal
B- PSV, Valencia
C- Zenit, Manchester United
D- PSG, Real Madrid
E- Juventus, Manchester City
F- Benfica, Atletico Madrid
G- Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen
H- Bayern Munic, Porto

Draw 2:
A- PSV, Bayer Leverkusen
B- Juventus, Valencia
C- PSG, Real Madrid
D- Zenit, Porto
E- Chelsea, Atletico Madrid
F- Benfica, Manchester United
G- Barcelona, Arsenal
H- Bayern Munich, Manchester City

Draw 3:
A- Barcelona, Porto
B- PSG, Manchester City
C- Chelsea, Atletico Madrid
D- Zenit, Manchester United
E-Benfica, Arsenal
F- PSV, Real Madrid
G-Bayern Munich, Valencia
H- Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen

Draw 4:
A- Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen
B- Zenit, Manchester United
C- PSV, Manchester City
D- Benfica, Real Madrid
E- Juventus, Arsenal
F- Barcelona, Porto
G- Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid
H- PSG, Valencia

Draw 5:
A- Zenit, Manchester City
B- Juventus, Real Madrid
C- Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid
D- Barcelona, Arsenal
E- Chelsea, Porto
F- PSV, Manchester United
G- PSG, Bayer Leverkusen
H- Benfica, Valencia

Draw 6:
A- Barcelona, Manchester City
B- PSV, Valencia
C- Juventus, Porto
D- Zenit, Manchester United
E- Benfica, Bayer Leverkusen
F- PSG, Real Madrid
G- Chelsea, Atletico Madrid
H- Bayern Munich, Arsenal

Draw 7:
A- PSV, Manchester United
B- Chelsea, Real Madrid
C- Juventus, Valencia
D- Bayern Munich, Porto
E- Zenit, Manchester City
F- Barcelona, Arsenal
G- PSG, Bayer Leverkusen
H- Benfica, Atletico Madrid

Draw 8:
A- Zenit, Manchester City
B- PSG, Arsenal
C- Bayern Munich, Porto
D- Barcelona, Manchester United
E- Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen
F- PSV, Valencia
G-PSG, Atletico
H- Benfica, Real Madrid

Draw 9:
A- Benfica, Valencia
B- PSG, Bayer Leverkusen
C- Juventus, Porto
D- Chelsea, Real Madrid
E- Barcelona, Manchester United
F- Zenit, Atletico Madrid
G- PSV, Manchester City
H- Bayern Munich, Arsenal

Draw 10:
A- Chelsea, Atletico Madrid
B- PSV, Real Madrid
C- Juventus, Valencia
D- Zenit, Arsenal
E- PSG, Porto
F- Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen
G- Benfica, Manchester City
H- Bayern Munich, Manchester United

So, to break it down, here is the number of times City, United, Arsenal, and Chelsea were drawn against each side from the opposite pot.
City: Zenit (x3), PSV (x2), Juventus, Barcelona, Benfica, Bayern Munich, PSG
United: Zenit (x4), PSV (x2), Barcelona (x2), Benfica, Bayern Munich
Arsenal: Barcelona (x4), Bayern Munich (x2), Benfica, Juventus, PSG, Zenit
Chelsea: Atletico Madrid (x4), Bayer Leverkusen (x3), Real Madrid (x2), Porto

Personally, Draw 9 would be my favorite. City getting grouped with PSV while the other three face off against Bayern, Barca, and Real.

Re: Champions League 2015/16 seedings - City in pot 2/3?

Amazing, with a closed shop of the same teams constantly qualifying from all round Europe, us being told we are really shit in Europe by every fucker and getting nightmare draws we finally reach level 2.

Re: Champions League 2015/16 seedings - City in pot 2/3?

That is by far the biggest waste of time I have ever seen

Let me guess? 1 in 7 chance was it?
Sadly it doesn't work like that...
First of all Barca or Real are TV paired, so one will be on the BLUE side of the draw and the other will be on the RED side of the draw.
As soon as Chelsea come out of the hat they will be assigned RED or BLUE (lets say RED.
So on RED side you get Barca/Real, + Chelsea and on the BLUE you get Real/Barca. If BT pair us with Chelsea then we would be forced into the BLUE side of the draw. (1/4 chance of getting Real/Barca).
If the other English sides come out of the hot ball machine first then our options are limited even further (this would be the case if we were in pot 3 so it's essential to be in Pot 2 or we get as bad a draw as we ever did.
Worse still, TV companies across Europe collude with their picks to make it easier or more difficult to progress.

Punters really should be told what the TV pairs are before the draw it really does limit the groups a team can be put in.

for all those who believe the draw to be fair, take heed, this is where the fix is made to allow G14 easier passage
