Champions League 2024/ 2025

I don't mind these proposals as they probably make more sense than the current CL structure.
My main concern is that co-efficient points gained in the Thursday League carry the same value as points gained in the CL under the current system. That means a team doing well in the Thursday League next season could have a high coefficient for the CL when this kicks off in 2024. Hello dippers for example.

It’s the two leagues with the highest co-efficient combined that get two of the additional four places. So Liverpool doing well in Europa might indirectly benefit themselves if they don’t win it but finish fifth. But no more than a Spanish, German or Italian team doing well in that competition.

Will teams in the Champions League still compete in the League Cup?

Is the group stage still going to run between September and December?

It's going to make the months between September and December more expensive for cup scheme members if so.

None of this is done to improve the competition, it's all about dragging more revenue from sponsors and supporters.

I'll likely suck it and see but I'm edging closer every season to just becoming an arm chair tbh.

The PL has the highest coefficient currently and City (along with Chelsea and the dippers) have helped that with our performances over the past 5 seasons. I think the coefficients are based on 5 seasons but I'm not sure.
I'd be happier if the historical element was removed but UEFA have to offer an olive branch to faded "giants".

I don't mind this format. In the last two seasons, the last 8 draws have been very lop sided allowing Inter and Liverpool easy passage to the final. I like that teams will not get into the Europa league.

I hope that the 9- 24 games are not two legs and 9-15 get to play at home.

To me it is a marginal improvement. More varied games in the group stages and a decent incentive to win your group. It appears that it is not only your own group you need to take into consideration as it appears an overall table 1-36 is compiled at the end of the group stage. My reading of this is that a team with more points finishing first could end up lower than a team finishing second in another group?
Two or perhaps 4 extra games to win the trophy puts extra pressure on another treble buy hey who gives a fuck about that now. .

I definitely do not like the suggestion that teams in Europe will no longer be eligible for the league cup, presumably that is an FA decision rather than a UEFA one but will hugely devalue that competition, though perhaps I've only seen that reported in these pages?
As to 'tennis' formats and the historically mentioned 'swiss' system, it doesn't exactly show confidence in the existing product to be looking in these directions for templates for change. How are the UEFA freeloaders going to replace their jollies to the drawn out jamborees of each 'draw' if it's all pre-conceived from the start?

The historical element is being removed and the number of places in the new format will be based on points earned by each federation’s teams in the 36 team league, we could end up cheering on The Dipper, Rags, etc, not comfortable with that at all.

all about keeping certain teams happy and barring a complete meltdown still in the competition in the knockout stages with new seeding so you’ll know once the first knockout draw is done you can meet or not right threw to the final.Yes we knew after beating Munich we would be up against Madrid or Chelsea but this is going to be completely mapped out, throw in extra games now as well it’s a load of bollocks, thank god we won it this year as it’s a complete stitch up now ..

Who’s suggested teams in Europe won’t be in the League Cup? I’ve not heard that.
