Champions League anthem PSG home

If fans don't want to boo that's their personal choice. The demonstrable fact is that a significant majority ARE booing, and I've yet to see anybody castigated for refraining.
Who cares about UEFA? - we all should. They run football in Europe and their influence is considerable. The choices they make affect not only the top clubs, but all levels of football in Europe, right down to kids in schools. They allocate the budgets (or more accurately decide how to split the funds). They decide on the rules. They set examples.
We aren't bothered about UEFA the institution, we're bothered about governing of football, which happens to be implemented by UEFA in Europe.

If you care about football, you ought to care about UEFA. It's no different that in you care about society, you ought to care about politics (however distasteful that sounds!)
We can't change much in football, and we should probably attempt to change a lot more than we do, but the reasons behind the booing are legitimate and worthy. It is in no way indicative of our support for the team. The two are entirely different matters, and the team know this.

Do you think fans are booing because of how they split the funds or because of any rules that have changed?

I'm more bothered about Kompanys fitness, trying to get 4th, Sterlings price tag, Ottamendi diving in and beating Stoke on Saturday just to name a few!! rather than this morale crusade that makes us look a little bit small time.

Like you say it is a personal choice and I do respect the right to boo and understand why some fans do it.

I boo because they have done us over at every possible opportunity they don't like us and we are showing them what we think of them It doesn't make us look small time as fans of other clubs, and the media know why we boo. The way we were treated in Moscow was an absolute disgrace and the final straw, especially as it affected fellow fans in the pocket they then repeated it again in Kiev. The funniest thing was charging us for it, this ensured the booing continued and was a massive own goal. I'll be booing loud and proud in Milan and will continue until they apologise

No I don't think the boo specifically for that reason... initially it was about the racism incident and having to play behind closed doors at short notice, made all the worse when seeing fans in the stadium (albeit under the facade of being dignitaries and media etc), but at the same time the disdain for UEFA has increased, not only amongst City fans, but many others too. Nothing's changed at UEFA, and I think a lot of City fans now just like to make their general disdain known in a peaceful but highly visible manner. The anthem symbolises all the pomp and ceremony as though it's UEFA's wonderful showcase, but it's also UEFA's money making machine which shows very little regard for the fans but plenty for the media. It's a reminder to them that we DO still matter.

If it does nothing other than people asking why we do it, it stimulates the debate - it's not much, but it's something.

Course there's lots of concern over team issues, we are fans after all, and not sports politicians, but for 2 minutes, we can demonstrate, and then we enjoy the game. I suppose the options are a) We do nothing at all and UEFA just carry on without a thought, or b) we go more extreme and don't turn up (which hurts the support for the team), or c) we protest more aggressively which will damage the reputation of the club, and undermine our legitimacy.
UEFA already try to control the banners that are displayed - which is disgusting enough, but the humble 'boo' seems to be about the most sensible option available.

At some point, something has to give. We all support City, but it's costing people a lot of money and we're being taken for a ride. Many are struggling to give the support they would like to due to prohibitive costs, and UEFA really don't give a damn about ticket touts, travel arrangements or fan welfare. All the other issues with UEFA just add more credibility to the call for reform. No doubt it will take a LOT more than our booing to change things, but our booing might just contribute a tiny bit to the growing concern.

Totally see your point, very well reasoned. Might boo myself now!!
