Football IMO is on the short road to nothingness it's got a shelf-life and that end is getting nearer and nearer. Used as a political tool to push political and social engineering projects it wont be long before the premier league like the chumps league loses its lustre for many many people. I know it sounds end of days-ish but it's the way I see it going, I'm just going to enjoy the last few years and resign myself to the opinion it's nearly over.

Although less pessimistic than you, I can’t help thinking the PL will one day find itself defying gravity. It’s not that many years ago when we were all watching Serie A.

I don't know if it's age that is making me pessimistic although I am in most things optimistic. Pubs are dying you can't smoke anymore without someone tut tutting looks like sugar is the next enemy it's not a stretch when you look at the matchday demographic of fans, football like gladiatorial combat looks like it's got a shelf life.
