Champions league draw 29th August 2019 - Group C (Shakhtar, Zagreb, Atalanta)

Word of advice if you are going to Shaktar, don't take Sterling, (the money not the player) I did and when I tried to change it they looked at me like I was a Rag. Fortunately my mate took Euros and they changed them without hesitation. It is a great trip and dirt cheap. Great food and beer, great people loved it.

I don't know about Kharkiv, but there were no currency problems in Kiev when we were there last year. I can imagine that the current parlous state of Sterling may make some reluctant to accept it or if they did they would give a lousy exchange rate.

I think the advice should be not to take Sterling anywhere at the moment until it becomes less toxic.

From Thomas Cook Sports Website:

Away Supporter Travel 2019/20

City have been drawn in Group C of the Champions League Group Stage.
Away fixtures are as follows:

FC Shakhtar Donetsk (Kharkiv, Ukraine): Weds 18th Sep, 9pm local
Atalanta BC (Bergamo, but will play at San Siro Milan, Italy): Weds 6th Nov, 9pm local
GNK Dinamo (Zagreb, Croatia): Weds 11th Dec, 6.55pm local

We are currently looking at travel options for each of the away fixtures.
Please check back to this page regularly for updates on potential trips, and when applications will open.

'We're currently looking at travel options for each of the away fixtures' makes me think they're doing all 3?

Just called Sporting Options and they said the following:

Ukraine - not running a trip

Atalanta - They are doing a day trip, info should be on website at the end of this week. Delay due to confusion around tickets (with game being at San Siro with reduced allocation they don't know how many are being offered to City). Also sorting stuff with the airports.

Zagreb - should be on the website in the next couple of hours. They're running a one night trip. Leaving on the day of the game coming back the next day.

Guessing Atlanta day trip will be approx. £299pp and the overnight in Zagreb north of £400pp.

I'm pretty happy with my 2 night Milan DIY for £105pp :)

Edit - I see flight only overnight for Zagreb has just gone live, £319pp

Shakhtar
If Thomas Cook doesn't put on a trip, we could feasibly have less than 200 going. Tickets will be £10 or less, and you can have as many as you want. It might become the new York away if we go on to win it.

Atalanta
Difficult to guess, as there does seem to be a cap on capacity. I still think we'll receive a big allocation. I could see ticket prices being fairly high (£40-£50), but hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Zagreb
Looks like Arsenal received 1700 tickets for their game in Zagreb a few seasons back, priced at £30.50. If we get the same allocation, I reckon we'll take a maximum of 1k as it is a bit difficult to get to and it should be a dead rubber. That overnight Spikes trip is decent value so might tempt a few.

Sport Options doing the following to Zagreb. Nothing on Milan yet.
Stop over on day of match but no Hotel or Airport transfer included. £319.00
But Hotels pretty cheap there.
0700 Flight from Manchester on day of game can't remember return flight details.
