One of the major issues Liverpool have—extremely ironically—is Milner playing in midfield.
He doesn’t have the positioning sense to cut out passes and he doesn’t have the pace to make up ground on the receivers. And his passing is mediocre at best.
This forces Fabinho to be more conservative and VVD and Gomez to cover the inside channels.
Gomez is definitely having a mare, but a lot of what has gone wrong thus far is down to Milner in midfield.
