I know it won't be popular but against barca I'd play bony up top alone instead of kun. We'll need numbers in midfield and Bony can play up top alone brilliantly.

Sergio's name on the team sheet alone will make barca think.

Yep, a team sheet without Aguero's name on would have to give any opposition a lift.

It's likely he won't have good service as we'll probably be defending most of the night. Serge does struggle sometimes playing up top on his own and rightly is regarded as one of the best around but Bony really could cause that defence havoc with long balls and free kicks. Playing them both will be too risky I feel against Barca.

Dear lord so not only jovetic is 100% out this summer, now dzeko and kolarov will be out too.
Only in bluemoon.

Dear lord, why would you stay if you were Jovetic after being left out of the CL squad?

No idea if Kolarov is staying or going [although we're allegedly in for Kurzawa].

For the umpteenth time, Edin is a special bro' along with Nasri and Toure - White European, Algerian Arab and Black African, respectively. He may get sold for footballing reasons but his longevity at the club is never a surprise to me. What never fails to surprise me is the criticism that he relentlessly receives from certain factions of our support.

In general terms I'm not sure how anyone can support Dzeko's play this season......some of the worse first touches, lack of effort and lazy play I have seen for a while, Oh and yes.....he isn't scoring any goals.....superstar last year and top scorer....this season, something has changed..... a absolute waste of space and a massive disappointment and if the argument is that he isn't 100% match fit yet, after injury...well, he shouldnt be in the CL squad anyway if that is the case..........My problem with this move is that it gives the wrong message...Give poor performances and lack in effort and you still get a place in CL squad...Jovetic works his arse off and puts in 100% effort but still gets left off the list...Really hope Dzeko returns to form but believe leaving him off the CL squad might have given him the kick up the arse he needed....

Think this poll pretty much says what most fans think.....

Poll results: Man City fans wanted Dzeko cut from Champions League squad

Blues were open to the idea of the Bosnian striker missing out instead of Manuel Pellegrini's pick Stevan Jovetic.

Fans would have preferred to see Edin Dzeko cut from Manchester City's squad for the Champions League, according to an MEN Sport poll.

Prior to the Blues' new roster being announced on Thursday, we asked supporters who they would axe if they were Manuel Pellegrini.

The signing of Wilfried Bony meant the Chilean needed to leave out one player in order to meet the squad restrictions imposed by UEFA over City's failure of Financial Fair Play rules.

Stevan Jovetic has now emerged as the unfortunate player to miss the cut.

But it seems the Montenegrin striker was low on most supporters' list of players who should have been culled.

Dzeko topped the poll with 24 per cent, while Bacary Sagna (20%) and Willy Caballero (18%) both attracted more votes than Jovetic (16%).

Meanwhile, Fernando (7%), Aleksandar Kolarov (7%), Jesus Navas (4%) and Bony (3%) were virtually backed as indispensable.

Fair comments save that (1) we both know that Dzeko can get into a scoring groove at any moment [often involving important goals] and (2) he will never be a 'kick up the arse' type of player. The latter is the the sure-fire way to get rid of him, as so many seem to wish.

Good points mate.....just found his play very frustrating "this" season and just wish someone would find his "on switch" before its too late.....

Dzeko is having one of those seasons.
World Cup , little if no preseason , troublesome calf injury.

I will not give up faith in him.

No Edin = no champions 2014

It would not surprise me in the least if he is our top goal scorer between now and May.

and if he isn't.....and doesn't improve....are we ready to move on and find a replacement? How long do we give him to find his old form?

So in a poll called "Who should we drop so we can play Bony?", Wilfried himself got 3% of the vote?

Lol football fans.

Just get him fit , the goals will follow.
