Chance conversion for and against

These are shots stats just from 2018, 'total number of shots - shots on goal - goals' , the first three digits is us, the next three opposition - I am aware many people don't give a monkey about stats, but for those who care this is a statistical horror show showing how many chances we need to score a goal and how few we need to concede. And if you go down the list it is obvious that as we come against a suddenly much better opposition, our chances to get 'dicked' are skyrocketing.

unpalatable answer is our conversation rate will always be poor as long as Sterling gets a game. He is a failure and I don't think that will ever change.
He has the weakest shot of any professional footballer I have ever seen. Imagine his chances this season falling to a Greizman the league would have been long over by now.

He’s improved and he is an upgrade on Navas but i think we should get an upgrade on Sterling.

Keep Sterling as he can still play 30 games a season but I don’t trust him to put the ball away in the biggest moment of biggest games.

Liverpool first leg :
9 shots, 5 on target, 3 of these goals. (First 30 minutes it was more crazy like 4 shots, 3 on target, 3 goals.)
Liverpool 2nd leg:
5 shots, 3 of them on target out of that 2 goals last night.
United at the weekend:
5 shots, 4 on target out of those 3 goals.

For us:

first leg Pool: 11 shot, 0 on target no goals obv.
2nd leg: 20 shots, 3 on target, 1 goal of these
United:20 shots, 6 on target, 2 goals of these

combined from these 3 games:
City:
51 shots, 9 on target (~20%), 3 goals

vs opponents combined :
19 shots, 12 on target (~63%), 8 goals.

Shocking imo, any explanation?

With nearly making only third of the shots we make they have more on target and more goals in these 3 games combined.

I know refs were at is all 3 games but defensively this is still madness how can they make 12 shot on targets in 3 games and score 8 fucking times of those?

Why is our defence so easy on them? basically when they make a shot its a good chance they are not disturbed much and have time on them to direct those shots very well.

Immense conversation rate for them and like wasting big chances, half chances and blocked shots for us...

(all stats from whoscored.)
Surely the absence of aguero for most of those 3 games is one big factor.

Most of our chances are barely half chances whilst the chances for the opposition are mostly clear chances. This is one of those instances where the stats really don’t tell the whole story.
I think this is a good point. Salah scores two from near enough 6 yards and keeper stranded.

Sterling my arse. He missed a couple of stinkers v Utd but for fucks sake he's scored loads of fucking goals & is a wide player.

If we look at the games v Liverpool, how many of the chances they had were really difficult finishes ? Oxlaide. Any others ? How about Utd ?

How many chances, in the 4 games v Liverpool, have been created in spite of great defending by City's back 4 ?

How many have been created by absolute fucking dogshite defending by City's back 4 & were easily preventable ?

How many would any of our opponents have conceded, from the exact same moves, at the other end ?

The reason we concede goals from few chances, is because we usually have the ball. As soon as our defence is tested by a half decent attack of any kind, a chance is created. Breakaways, set pieces, everyone back,,it doesn't matter. Any team in any division can score v City from any kind of situation including us having the ball.

Our attackers have to work much harder against pretty much all opposition to create the same quality of chances.
