Liverpool first leg :
9 shots, 5 on target, 3 of these goals. (First 30 minutes it was more crazy like 4 shots, 3 on target, 3 goals.)
Liverpool 2nd leg:
5 shots, 3 of them on target out of that 2 goals last night.
United at the weekend:
5 shots, 4 on target out of those 3 goals.

For us:

first leg Pool: 11 shot, 0 on target no goals obv.
2nd leg: 20 shots, 3 on target, 1 goal of these
United:20 shots, 6 on target, 2 goals of these

combined from these 3 games:
City:
51 shots, 9 on target (~20%), 3 goals

vs opponents combined :

19 shots, 12 on target (~63%), 8 goals.

Shocking imo, any explanation?

With nearly making only third of the shots we make they have more on target and more goals in these 3 games combined.

I know refs were at is all 3 games but defensively this is still madness how can they make 12 shot on targets in 3 games and score 8 fucking times of those?

Why is our defence so easy on them? basically when they make a shot its a good chance they are not disturbed much and have time on them to direct those shots very well.

Immense conversation rate for them and like wasting big chances, half chances and blocked shots for us...

(all stats from whoscored.)

It hasn't been like this all season, so I attribute a lot of it to fatigue

Similar stats to last season when we had Bravo in goal I should imagine.

The 8 goals came from quite a close range as well apart from Oxlade so wouldnt blame it on Ederson. But when we know hoe dangerous salah is him being so close to our goal without a defender very close to be able to make a shot is crazy when we see how hard they make it for Jesus to find bit of space.

Basically our style makes it easy for them from the moment they decide to attack us and they manage to get behind Fernandinho.

Actually its as if our defenders are there or not doesnt make that much difference. As they dont make many blocks, tackles or disturbing shots.

It must be like the average shot taken against us can be described with the attacker having much more time and space to make that shot really count compared with what Kun, Jesus has to put up vs packed defences.

Even with this its a miracle imo and a bad one for us that these 3 games we conceded 19 shots, only 12 on target but 8 times they scored.

Most of our chances are barely half chances whilst the chances for the opposition are mostly clear chances. This is one of those instances where the stats really don’t tell the whole story.

Then what can we do to turn their clear chances into half chances defensively? Without giving up on Pep's philosophy too much as clearly he wont do that? Will he even try to do anything about it apart from trusting his players?

Its quite simple. We eed to knock the occasional ball over the top for a foot race with a defender.

I don’t think there’s much we can do to be honest. This system has defenders running all over the pitch and we’re seemingly always open to one ball cutting us up. I think whoever you put in our system the top players in Europe will always find a way of exploiting it.

Or have a tallish striker we can cross the ball to, instead of crossing it to the oppositions heads all the time.
