Changes in Football Since You Started Watching

Well... as of late... several sea changes.

Pep's brand of football is now embraced in the Premier League. The mind-think that possession-based, high-press, attacking football will never work in the P/L has been discredited.

Likely due to TV revenue, the P/L now has, hands-down, the best managers, team-by-team of any league in the world.

Also likely due to TV revenue, the P/L has 4 or 5 top, top sides able to go toe-to-toe other top sides around the world. Two years ago, Spain dominated top European club play followed closely by Germany; meanwhile Juventus kept Italy's hopes alive. At the same time, the P/L was in shambles with a miraculous Chelsea win in the C/L finals the sole bright spot.

Whereas before you’d hear the odd moan at the ground and in the pub. Now it’s relentless hatred absuse online and social media - which seeps into the fans. It’s played a big part and little wonder managers get sacked so often nowadays.

Not allowed socks around the ankles like this any more :-

Only one camera in the ground situated on the half way line, and video replays not widely available until circa 1964. I also remember one England match ( I cannot remember which one ) in the black and white days where ITV edited an England goal out of the programme. The presenter, Gerry Loftus, never mentioned what had happened until the end of the broadcast. Those were the days.

Those sky blue three wheeler mobility cars you used to see parked around the ground back in the 1970s
