Seeing all the piss-heads with absolutely no interest in the game drinking at the bars at Maine Road, when the pubs were shut in the afternoon, before all-day drinking was introduced in 1988.

All day drinking not introduced till mid 1990s

Being able to turn up on the day and pay at the turnstiles for most away games other than the derby.

Women attending matches ( I have a theory about this)

I cant get the link but it was defiantly 1990s .Think started on Sundays in 1995 then progressed from there .Am sure a Landlord on here can put us straight

It definitely wasn’t.

Section 1(1)(b) of The Licensing Act 1988 amended section 60(1)(a) of the Licensing Act 1964 by omitting the words “with a break of two and a half hours beginning at three in the afternoon”, thus allowing pubs to open all day, or at least from 11am to 11pm.

It was enacted on 19th May 1988.

I remember the licensing laws changing and it was without a doubt in '88. I had only just started legally drinking in pubs The end of knowing where to go at 3 pm and use the special knock on the door took some of the fun away from Sunday afternoon sessions.

Things that have come in during my time or changed

Two substitutes on the bench, no goal keepers.
Numbers being held up for subs and not the electronic boards being held up.
Mitre Deltas for match balls.
Short football shorts your bollocks would fall out of the side of being replaced by the longer ones.
Sponsors on shirts.
The Euros only having 8 teams in it for the finals.
The Zenith Data Systems cup
Three euro club competitions all knock out and every game had something riding on it instead of some of the meaningless champions league fixtures that will happen in the next few weeks.
Liverpool winning a league title (I was 11 at the time).
FA cup 3rd replays (does anyone remember when we had to play Millwall three times and got knocked out in the end in 89?
Advertising hoardings round the pitch advertising proper brands such as 'Greenhalls' and 'Tom Garner Motors' instead of the Abu Dhabi Grand prix
A woman pushing a trolley of snacks and steaming hot bovril round the front of the Kippax at half time and those industrial strength mints that looked like they were antibiotics for a rhino.

I Stand to be corrected but am 100% convinced it was in the mid 1990s all day drinking on Sundays
