Changes in Football Since You Started Watching

Goalies always had a cap at the ready.
You could smell the linnament as you walked past the main stand.
There was always a railing for a young kid to sit on.
No man outside the ground selling the pink and shouting"full time scores racing results"
No can I mind your car sirs.
No Helen the bell.

Not allowed socks around the ankles like this any more :-

Proper shorts. Not these 3/4 length basketball efforts worn these days

Goalkeepers not wearing green shirts and the same shorts and socks as the rest of the team.

remember when we played West Brom in the League Cup in 1980-81 season at Maine Road. They wore a very fetching yellow and green striped jersey, twas the first time Id seen a keeper in a red goalie top. Think it was Tony Godden. Bothered me more than the own goal we went 0-1 down to.
Nowadays the only green thing you see at a footie game, is if you wind down your car window driving next to Jamie Carragher

I'm only 27 so can only compare back to mid/late 90s, but the focus on sides off the field is immense now with transfer windows, revenue, sponsorship, etc.

It was 1995 that pubs became allowed to open all days on Sundays. It immediately took the fun out of having to go to hunting for places in which to have a pint til 7pm.
You are quite correct; Sundays weren't subject to all day opening in 1988 (although the period for closure from 3pm was reduced from five to four hours)

I don't remember it changing precisely in 1995, but that sounds about right.

Edit: Just looked it up and you are absolutely correct.

There is on Clayton Lane. Although they don't say "Sir".

Yellow and red cards.
Many teams not having a club badge on their shirts.
Not having a clue as to how much time was going to be added on.
