Changes to improve the league

I would be 100% behind that idea in theory, but unfortunately, in practice, it would potentially leave things wide open to corruption & 'favours' or collusion.

Especially in conjuntion with v.a.r.

Whole titles, Champs Lg qualification & relegation issues, could be decided by teams chucking games late in the season or bent officials sending players off, awarding pens etc, if rather than just goal difference, they get actual extra points for it.
They could do that now anyway

Injury time needs to be corrected. Add another official that is strictly a time keeper for example. There’s an injury, start the clock when it happens, stop it when play continues and add this time on at the end of the half. Not rocket science.

Do the same for substitutions etc. Embarassing this even needs to be discussed in the 21st century.

We’ve had games with 6 subsitions, players going down injured and 3 minutes of added time?? While in some games you see 7 minutes of injury time with everyone wondering how they came up with that.

This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Don't understand why football doesn't have an independant clock.

It would actually make timewasting counter productive, as the ball would be in play for longer anyhow, so timewasting would mean teams are out there longer & more tired by the final whistle.

Yea I mean it’s so easy to implement. The NBA have had a shot clock forever. A manual time keeper is medieval and we don’t even have that.

Apart from better, equal standards of refereeing across the board, nothing.

Been saying this for ages.
Even the most intellectually challenged players would very soon realise that the clock doesn't restart until they have thrown or kicked the ball into play, and goalkeepers can take as long as they want to kick the ball for the same reason.
All we need then is for referees to apply the Laws of the game in a fair and even-handed manner to both sides, and we'll all be happy.

Whilst typing this, I've just looked out of the window. I live at the 6 mile mark for runway 23R at Manchester Airport, and have observed a squadron of Vietnamese pot bellied pigs flying in perfect formation on their final approach.

i was watching the egg chasing the other day and they had an interesting rule that if you scored 4 or more tries you got a bonus point and if you were within 7 of the winning score the losing team got a point. Football as always lags behind VAR etc but it would make for a more interesting league at both ends and attacking football even for the relegation teams. They could have teams who win with 4 or more goals get an extra point and losing teams who score 2 or more get a point. It would certainly mean teams not sitting back even if getting hammered or teams winning pushing for that extra point.

The Daily Fail ran a campaign years ago (it might even have been as far back as the '70sj to try to bring in something like this, but it died a death, as no one else was interested.

Officials to be made accountable for strange or dodgy looking decissions and made to explain their reasoning to a neutral body. Officials to have medicals and also pass a standard of fitness tests. Annual eye sight tests and body mass related weight standards. They are Proffesionals after all.
