Charlie Gray has rejected an extension apparently.

@twosips or anyone else with good knowledge of Eds, is it a big loss or just another talented player that will probably end up championship/league 1?

He is a very tidy player but I cannot see him playing for us. Wasn’t there reports that Sunderland wanted him in the close season but it (obviously) never materialised. At the time I thought that looked a good move for him.
Barring injury, I feel he would comfortably make a Championship level player.

Agree with this. Decent prospect but doesn't feel like he'll ever reach the level required.

Would be a good signing for a League 1 side on a free.

A player I’ve praised on here who deservedly won EDS players player of the year last time out and I don’t think has reached his ceiling yet as he looks a very young 19, but like most of the talented lads in the academy the ceiling has to be world class and few will reach that. Would have expected the club to protect themselves better than him leaving as free agent without the usual clauses though

What he does have is a real dogged work ethic to add to his talent which should serve him well in reaching his ceiling.

I would also say is the EDS really miss him and if him and Jayden Heskey were to leave in Jan they could really struggle.

Will have a really good career with a bit of luck

Is he a member of the Gray family (Leeds United connections) ?

Be good to get a fee for him say 2 or 3m like we did for Jacob Wright
I actually prefer him slightly to Jacob as he seems to have a bit more physicality, as decent as JW was.

Not a surprise for me Charlie has huge potential and should do what’s best for him and his career. Sadly for him there are better players in age groups in front of him and behind him.
I wish the lad nothing but the best of luck.

If he stays until the summer then we lose him for just training compensation, which is peanuts if he goes abroad.

I think Charlie has all the attributes to play at the highest level for any of the big clubs barring 2 very important attributes for somebody playing in his position as a number 6. You need height & physicality & mobility which unfortunately he doesn't possess. He will go on to have a very good career though at a lower level.

Looks like he’s just had first England call up as well. Looks to be a player still on an upward trajectory so I expect City will push for a sell on if they can still do that so late in his contract.
