Come to Snowdonia

yes, I love it there

also I once had a holiday in Arkengarthdale (Nth Yorks) which I also loved, stayed in a village called Reeth.

Clitheroe is just over the hour on train; great quiet little town with walking on Bowland or Pendle and I assume fishing in the Ribble. Old castle worth a look, and the CAMRA pub of the year a bus ride away in Pendleton.

Hebden Bridge is similar but you have to take a train towards Leeds to get there.

Day trip to York on the ale, not NW but quick to get to on the train.
It's fair to say I'm fairly well traveled and it has to be said York stands toe-to-toe with any like city in the world.
Once you've done the train museum and Jorvik, is there any decent places to get sucked off by a nice brass?

The stadium tour at old trafford represents really good value.

never done a stadium tour but have visited the museum, some of the old bats and balls are great to look at and compare to todays much bigger yet still lighter bats.
